Form Data Fields Not Displaying in Firefox and Netscape

breturi7 29 Jan, 2009
I apologize if this has been addressed previously. I did a forum search but didn't come across my specific problem.

I'm new to Joomla and today installed ChronoForms to tackle some very basic forms...nothing crazy complicated. I'm getting the hang of creating the forms, etc., it's just that when viewing my sample forms in either Firefox (version 3.0.5) or Navigator (version 9.0.0.6), the data fields where one inputs their answers is invisible. If you click in the general area of where the data boxes should be, it'll allow you to enter your information as usual...but the actual rectangular boxes that contain the answers are not there. You can submit everything and the e-mail comes through a-okay...just the display side of things seems messed up. Even more interesting, IE Explorer (version 7) displays the forms as they should look, text field boxes, radio buttons, submit button and all.
So, anyone else run into this problem, and if so, I'm crossing my fingers that there's an easy fix.

Here's the sample form on my sample site: http://thewalla.ipower.com/habitat/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=sampleform I can't guarantee that your browser will display the form (or lack thereof) as my browser is...but go for it.

Thanks in advance.

you could enter a style for the boxes, maybe that would force all browsers to use it.

Hi breturi7,

Weird, I could have sworn I'd answered this earlier today. Cheryl's correct, there's an odd piece of css in your template - see template.css around line 1207 border:medum none; replace this with something like border:1px solid silver; and all is OK.

Brilliant! It's working like a charm. Thanks Cheryl and Bob. I don't know why it never occurred to me to check the template's CSS...I guess it's because Explorer was reading the form just fine. 😶 (Like I said before, I'm still pretty new to the whole Joomla / CMS thing...I'm used to old-school HTML.)

Again, sorry for the redundant topic. I'm sure you did answer that same question earlier, Bob. I swear I tried a couple of different search threads and came up with squat. You guys and gals rock.
