Hi,

There is no auto upgrade from v6 to v8 yet, you will have to remake the forms.

OR, you can download and install v6 for J4 here:
https://www.chronoengine.com/downloads/chronoforms/chronoforms-v6
All features should be working except very few advanced settings.

Hello Max

Thanks for the great intermediate version. it almost works for me. but unfortunately it is not possible if I have a repeater area that I want to read out in the mail. the fields are always empty in the mail. I also get the following error message:
Warning: Array to string conversion in /home/plugins/system/chronog3_plg/chronog3/admin/extensions/chronofc/helpers/parser.php on line 304

Which is due to exactly this.
It would also be great if I could map this in the CF8. I can also send you the cf6 backup so that you can see what I have built there. and what is needed from me in cf8.
Thank you for a short feedback.

Kind Regards Ciril

Has there been any development on updating v6 forms to v8? I've several very complicated service ticket forms, among others, that each took a long time to develop in v6. Having to reinvent the wheel all over again doesn't make sense. Why is it still called Chronoforms if each version upgrade makes previous version forms deprecated? If Photoshop required the complete recreation of images and editing on every upgrade they would go out of business pronto. Upgrading is utterly unavoidable since I am moving servers to PHP8 and Joomla 5. It will take weeks to recreate these forms by hand again, including all the troubleshooting and debugging that I have already performed on the v6 versions.

Hello.

I have been with chronoforms since chronoforms5 and every time there is an upgrade I have to recreate the forms as there is no posibility to migrate your work to the new version.

I have so many critical forms on my website in V6 and now I have just let them be as they are I don't try to upgrade because chronoform is the only Joomla extention that I use needs a rework all the time.

This is really frustration and an utter waste of valuable time.  I think the Chronoform developers need to think on this before they launch a new version.

The new code is improved and the form settings are completely different, not only the interface but how the settings are stored, it's not possible to match the old settings to the new ones in most cases, what can always be matched is the field types, names, labels..etc, but nothing more advanced as these settings work in a different way between different versions

A new importer for v6 & v7 forms has been added to v8.0.27

Avoid importing if you have a complex multi-page form with PHP, JavaScript, and other elements. The import process often results in multiple empty pages, with only actions available — and even then, only by their matching names. While some variables and PHP code might be included, the overall structure is rarely replicated accurately. Debugging such imports will take significantly more time than creating a new form from scratch, as there is no guarantee that the imported form will match the original 1:1.

Max, I apologize if this comes across as harsh, but it would be far more beneficial to focus on feature development so that CF8 can reach the same level of functionality as CF6. Additionally, a comprehensive CF8 user manual would greatly enhance the user experience.

Hi Elita

v8 already has all v6 features and more, Can you share one of the v6 forms which are not properly imported in v8 ?

The importer will mainly import the structure the most common settings, it will not import everything

Hi, Max

I apologize if I came across as ungrateful. I truly appreciate the great work you’ve done. However, when clients require immediate results, it can be challenging to work effectively when certain functions aren’t working or clear, and when instructions are unavailable.

I’ve sent some of my forms to your Gmail address that we previously used for communication. I hope that address is still active, as I couldn’t attach files via the contact form.

Thank you again for your support.

Sincerely, Elita

Hi Elita

Please update to v8.0.35 and test your v6 forms backup, I have improved the v6 forms restore so that now empty pages will be inserted as it was and few other things like the Read Data tables, please try it and let me know what you think is still missing
