Why wasn't it possible to update CF7 with the improved features of CF8?

There are no major bugs known in v7.
For the same reason it was not possible to add the Joomla 2.5 or 3 or 4 features to Joomla 1.5, this is a NEW product, from the inside and outside.
And J1.5, 2.5 have known security bugs, but they reached their end of development life, this does not mean that v7 is abandoned, critical issues will be fixed, but new features are added to v8 because it's better.
