Hello,
Is there a plugin for the chrono forms ?
I found this topic: http://www.chronoengine.com/forums/index.php?option=com_chronoforums&cont=posts&f=2&t=4012&p=9366&hilit=sh404SEF#p9366
But a simple plugin posted download seems to be gone...
I think its worth to create cause sh404SEF is best sef as far as i know of,i even tried sef advance but sh404SEF is better and more reliable.
any solution ?

Hi lidosofia,
There's a plugin for Joomla 1.0.x and I have an alpha version for Joomla 1.5.x - it has some problems but they are hard to debug as there are no instructions yet for writing sh404SEF plugins for Joomla 1.5 - please ask sumisha.

Hi lidosofia,
Why do you need SEF plugin ? our contact us page above is created using V3.0 beta 2 and as you can see, this is the default joomla SEF and its contactus.html , what can the plugin do more ? you will need to make your menu item of type "component" if you want it to be SEF like this!
Cheers

well they dont talk about it at their forums ...๐
can you attach the simple 1.5 version you have?

Hi lidosofia,
I think I missed something, you have SEF404 enabled so you have Joomla core SEF disabled through the .htaccess and I'm not sure if this will work or not but give it a try, for me Joomla 1.5 core SEF is perfect!
go to the menus and create a new menu item, choose Chronoforms and then choose the menu title and add the alias and at the right side add the form name and save, now check this menu link if its .html or not!
Cheers

well im using an external sef.....which is..sh404SEF
and i believe you need a plugin to have it rewrite....
in your way i just tried that as i earlier did gives..component/option,com_chronocontact/Itemid,83/

well yes, because of the .htaccess, this is not the best user friendly looking but it stays as SEF also, we had thousands of old forums posts like this listed in google and appear in the top results.

I understand, but what I want to say is that the current SEF you get with SEF404 is fine for SEF purposes component/option,com_chronocontact/Itemid,83/, if you look for the best result then you need a SEF404 plugin sure, do they have some guidelines for writing plugins ? I may free sometime to look at this!

Hi lidosofia,
The ChronoForms thread in the siliana forums is here. As far as I know Sumisha still hasn't posted any instructions for writing J 1.5.x plugins.
I've attached the current alpha version but - as you'll see from that thread - it still has some major problems.
Note: this has no installer - just put the sef_ext folder into your components/com_chronocontact folder.

Yeah well thats probably because he is french, and i dont like french people.
The basic support from his and forums are terrible..
And his contact forum doesnt work as it should either.
So where does that leaves us?
No plugin i guess.
Hi lidosofia,
well, I was looking now at this issue now, hopefully I will find some good result for you but I'm really not sure!
when work is done for free then you can't always guarantee A+ class of support unless there are alot of volunteers to help, I think he is doing this alone ?
Not a good idea to not like all french people because you only don't get super support there, I have some french friends and all of them are really great and helpful!๐

(edit: as for the french......well its a dutch thing i guess....the country is great to visit but the people arent very helpfull...)

Hi lidosofia,
I'm glad it's working for you at least partly!
Sumisha has a very technical product and many of the posting in his forums are about obscure conflicts - so he has my sympathy.
As for the French in general - I can't say much, in this corner of Brittany they are pretty friendly and helpful (and no, I'm not French).

The SEF url works great with greyheads code, however, the title isn't too SEF, is there anyway we can manually edit this?
Great work though.
Thanks

oops, took a look through the code and found this:
$title[] = "/";
I entered a title instead of /, I then purged my sh404sef urls, hey presto, beautiful titles too๐
Let us know if you release another version, you mention that there are problems with the version you attached, although it works great for me๐

I have run into problems with the form, not sure if it is a result of the sef_ext file.
The problem is when I submit a form, I get the following error:
404 - Component not found
I am using Redirect URL for the form, which is set to thank-you, I have created this page and am able to navigate to it, it just looks as though CF is no longer generating SEF URL's for the submit side of things.
Hope someone can help.

Hi lw_d,
chronoforms action url will not have the domain name, it starts with index.php, the sh404 doesn't work with this although Joomla does since J1.0.x and so it should do the same, ( I really suggest using Joomla's default SEF)
you can hack chronocontact.html.php to include the full URL

Thanks for the reply Max, Joomla's SEF does a great job, but there are just a few additional configurations available with sh404SEF, that said, CF is more important to me at this stage.
Thanks for the help

I think this thread is touching on exactly my problem. Unfortunately I'm not quite knowledgable with Joomla to be sure.
I have a site that uses Chrono Forms quite extensively (it was built by a third party developer), http://www.shackn.com. Though the URLs are "search engine friendly" from what I can see, they are not user-friendly.
For example, this URL: http://shackn.com/component/option,com_chronocontact/chronoformname,frmSurfDetail/surfid,42/
I would rather it read like this shackn.com/surfbreak/newsouthwales/sydneyeast/bronte
Is any one able to provide basic, step by step instructions on how I might be able to do this ?

How to create new menu item of type Chronoforms?
There is no such option available in Main Menu to select this type. Am I missing something here?
do you have J1.5 ? when you click new you should have Chronoforms in the types list, no ?
Hi Admin
I am helping Jake on his site shakn.com. I hv worked on Joomla but not on chronoforms, so its blind leading blind situation with me n Jake.
The site is shakn.com, ver is Joomla! 1.0.12, The Chronoform ver is 2.0
I installed the sh404SEF plugin and the urls are much shorter now like -
http://shackn.com/frmPropertyDetail/?id=16
But given a choice the best option is something like -
http://shackn.com/Beachfront_Towers/
Is there any setting required in .htaccess? I tried several options before loading the plugin and it did not work as intended. I did not try anything after plugin was loaded.
If you could guide me on where do I need to do changes, it would be a great help.

Hi Yogi,
while creating the menu, choose type as "component" then from the components list choose "ChronoContact" or Chronoforms, write the form name on the right side and save!

I used plugin from GreyHead (http://www.chronoengine.com/forums/index.php?option=com_chronoforums&cont=posts&f=2&t=10856#p11992) but the link will show http://www.yourdomain.com/form/ instead of the predefined alias.
After thinking for a while, finally I get the solution:
Go to SH404SEF configuration and choose "By component" tab
Turn off SEF for Choronoform by selecting "skip"
Go to the page, where the link to the form located, and see the link without SEF
Create custom redirect in SH404SEF so the form URL will be whatever URL you want
Back to SH404SEF configuration, turn on SEF in "By componet" tab
You should have got what you want now
Anyhow, thanks to GreyHead, who has made the modification becoming possible.
I am wondering, why the ext_sef file in chronoengine.com is not changed with GreyHead's?

Hi Max,
You are welcome๐
I know how difficult to get solution whenever we really need it, hence I try my best to share what I know to people so that other people don't have to sweat the way like I did.

I must have the ext_sef (from GreyHead) in order to make it run as I want.
If I don't have the ext_sef, then whatever I do, the link will show Joomla standard SEF i.e. yourdomain.com/section,id/... (I don't remember it exactly, but I couldn't control the link)

This is my sef_ext(com_chronocontact.php) version to Joomla 1.5(joomla 1.5.9)
In my plugin, I get the alias from menu table.
Itยดs working, but the title at the top of browser is alias too (lowercase).
How I solved? Personalizing the title in sh404sef.

You can try using Meta tags Management.
I tried it on my website as well (with Chronoform) and it runs well.

This plugin is exactly what I've been looking for. Would it be possible to include the section in the sef link?
Hi hamela,
Almost certainly - but it's more than a year since I loked at the code and I've no idea how to do it :-(

Neither do I. Perhaps someone will be able to shed some light on this. Otherwise, I'm perfectly fine with how the links turn out.
Not sure if this helps... or not... but here is a post on the newly updated sh404SEF website (it now costs $35... but is well worth it for people looking for that extra edge... in my opinion anyways)
This link is to a "how to write a plugin for sh404SEF article" not sure if that helps anyone... I'm not too smart or I'd undertake it myself....

I'm confused then. I add a chroncontact menu item that points to the form, and in the alias of the menu item I put 'contact'. What I get for a URL is not /contact, but component/option,com_chronocontact/Itemid,41/
