registration and profile plugin confusion

d_proudfoot 06 Aug, 2008
I have read through the multiple postings in the forums about the registration and profile plugins but I am still confused. I think I have the registration part figured out although I am confused about what the + - part means as seen here.

I am though really confused about the profile plugin. I understand the basic idea but am having difficulty figuring out where to start. Could you do a tutorial to explain the basics including pictures and explain what it all does. I read what you have put in the FAQ and that helped some what but did not entirely eliminate my confusion.

Hi,

The numbers in pic are for the run order of plugins because you may run more than one plugin at the same time!

the profile is very easy but you should know that it runs on page load, in other words in needs its own form with some special text, what about waiting a couple of days or so for a new Chrono component which will be able to show any data in any table, it has its own interface and very easy to use and will come with tutorials and support, its almost done, just needs more testing, Beta can be out later today or tomorrow, are you in rush ?

I need a sport registration form that will need to go live in September. I would like to have something where the registration is tied to their joomla login so that the info that doesn't change each season can be tied to their account and does not need to gathered each season.

I just learned how to do this.

You have the form use the "value" of the login field, and use the profile plugin on your form. Here is the post where Max helped me.

It also shows you how to get the "email" value to fill in. It was really easy, you just activate the profile plugin (after selecting which form you want it attached to) then use the {fieldname} in the value tag of your form field.

Hope this helps, and maybe saves Max from typing again !! LOL
