url format form - hard to edit

kd9000 12 Apr, 2015
Hi ,
after inputting a url in a form which has the "url enabled formatting it is hard to edit the url as there is a blue cursor that pops up after you click to start erasing things that prevents "inserting" corrections without erasing the next letter.

best

hi, when you click in the middle of the url to fix a typo, the blue thing shows up and when you click on "Backspace" to erase your typo the blue messes things up... small glitch but my viewers will get annoyed

Do you mean that you a have a URL field mask enabled ? if yes then you can disable this feature and enable the url validation.

Hi max,
Yes but if I do that, take the mask off the "http://" does not pop up automatically.
So we need the mask on and I turned the validation on and off and I see no difference, the glitch is still there.
If it's not possible let us know.

Kind Regards

BTW also if I try clicking on the url to make corrections.... like the first word after the "www" it won't allow us to at all it skips to another part of the url.

Hi kd9000,

I tested this here and it deletes the selected character as expected.

Hi Max,
There is blue cursor that shows up and that makes it hard to edit because that blue thing erases everything else instead of allowing one just to click on the letter to be fixed. I'm reporting to you a bug I see. If its ok I will email you the info so you can log into my form to see if its just on my end.

Ok, please PM me a link to your form, but when I tested this here with a demo form on FireFox, it only deleted the single character in the blue cursor, so its working ok.

Hi Max,
Kindly let me know if you received my PM to see the bug on my form, Either way seems you see it on your test as you mentioned. The blue thing should not be there. I gets in the way when people want to correct a typo. if you want to delete letters or add, the blue thing gets in the way, even erasing the characters you don't want to erase.

Hi kd,

No, I didn't receive the PM, you can send again using the "Contact us" page.

I can't disable the blue cursor, its a built in feature, and the masking is a 3rd party library, so modifications are hard.

Max

Hi kd9000,

You can disable the mask and replace it with a Custom Validation to check for a valid URL if that helps.
