Upgraded from Joom 1.5 to 3.3 and Login problem

pgrgrl 13 Feb, 2015
Hello,

I was using Chronoforms on a Joomla 1.5 install (it has worked great for years, thank you). I am now upgrading to Joomla 3.3. Is there a way to import my forms from 1.5, or do I need to rebuild them in the new site, I assume I must make new forms? I am also working on this upgrade on a new server separate from the live site, so is it also possible to import my old database archives to the new server if I name my forms exactly as they were before? Or should I archive these records some other way in case I need to refer to them in the future?

Also, on my website, I have been using a link to the login form from a menu item, so that the menu item is labeled that it is for staff only, not general public. I have not been able to do this on my Joomla 3 site, I keep getting a 404 error. Is there a possibility that there may be old version chronoforms files somewhere that is causing a conflict? I used the extension SP Upgrade and while Chronoforms Component was not copied over, perhaps some residual files still exist that might cause this conflict?

Thanks for any insight you might have on this.

Nevermind about the log in issue, it appears to be a more broad SEF problem, not just the Log In page.

Hi pgrgrl,

You can reimport the tables - the data columns should still work correctly, some of the 'special' columns that ChronoForms adds like 'created_by' have been renamed in CFv5 so you'd need to edit the tables to match if you need those entries.

Yes, you should archive them somewhere too.

And yes, best to re-build your forms in CFv5. It is possible to copy and paste over the form HTML but in most cases it's better long-term to rebuild from scratch as CFv5 has a different structure to the HTML.

Thank you! I delayed upgrading for so long and dreaded it, but now that I have it up and running, I'm looking forward to get the forms functioning and getting ready to launch!
