CF manipulates/rewrites URL of menu item unassociated with CF

YOOlabs 26 Nov, 2014
Hi,
I might be wrong but there's one weird thing happening with a menu item's URL and I think it's a bug.
I'm running a multilanguage site (English/German) which uses several forms.

They all work fine. However there's a bug occuring in a very unexpected place.

In the site's english main menu there's one certain menu item.
I'm pretty sure it's absolutely unconnected to chronoforms:
It's a Joomla Article Blog, the articles won't load a form anywhere and there are no modules using CF either.

Now, what happens? CF changes the URL of the menu item.
It should be /en/service-our-services
but it somehow becomes /en/com-chronoforms-forms-manager/service-our-services
When I enter the "true" URL /en/service-our-services manually, it returns a 404 error.

Finally it gets even weirder.
When I move the menu item to be the first or second item of the menu, CF won't rewrite the link.
Tried to recreate the menu item and it resulted in the same weirdness... :?

Any ideas? Thank you so much!

Hi YooLabs,

No ideas at all. Or just maybe you have the Joomla! ReDirect extension enabled and that redirect has been saved there? It has to be something like that. ChronoForms doesn't rewrite any URLs as far as I know.

Hi GreyHead,

it's a truely weird and funny thing 🙂 Just checked, redirection is disabled...

Seems I'm the first to notice, but it's not the first time this bug occurs. I googled for *"com-chronoforms-forms-manager"* (note the quotes, forces google to search for 100% matching results...)

... result: There're a few pages indexed by google where this appears in the URL. I checked some of these sites, most were J3 but there also are some J2.5 sites with that problem.

Let me know when you're enlightened with a solution 😉

What about SEF ? do you have any 3rd party SEF extensions installed ? they usually cause these weird links!🙂

Hi Max, the site uses Joomla's native SEO features only.
I've enabled SEO friendly URL and URL-rewrite.

Hi YOOlabs,

Well, anyway, Chronoforms doesn't interfere with the URL writing methods as Bob noted, it may be the multilanguage extension you have ?

Hi Max, this may be possible. However the site uses joomla's native language system only.
Additionally, I just remembered googling for "com-chronoforms-forms-manager" showed several one-language websites having the same problem. Which means, the problem is likely unrelated to the language system.

I think that what's happenning is that the menu system loads some admin menu data (com_chronoforms and forms manager) into the front menu, which is a bug somewhere, I'm not sure what might be causing this, but you can post on the Joomla forums and somebody may be able to help.

We use v5 here with Joomla 3 SEF and all is good, the Demo site is Joomla 2.5 with v4 and its fine too.

You said that you have 2 languages on your site, how do you translate the content ?
