Hello,
I installed Chronoforms Version 5 and it runs really slow. I will click on a function and have to wait 10 - 30 seconds or more for it to do anything.
I am also having issues finding an option to insert a block of text. (i.e. text that welcomes them to the form, offers general instructions or alternate contact info, etc.)
In V4 I could insert a field that I could format using an editor. In Version 5 I am finding nothing.
I am not impressed with v5 at this point, I am guessing something went wrong with the installation? Can anyone help? I can't believe the new version is supposed to work like this.
Hi tjhaas,
It does seem slow to me to open a form for editing. I think that is because Max has switched to using Ajax to load to avoid some of the problems with server and PHP settings that block larger forms.
You want the Custom element from the Advanced element group on the Designer tab to enter plain text/HTML/PHP - it has replaced the old Formatted Text element - which didn't support PHP - and the Custom Code element - which did.
Bob
It just doesn't load slow, it is slow at every step of the way. Maybe there is something wrong with my installation?
I don't like that there is no editor in the custom element. or should there be? Maybe it is just not loading for me?
If this is the way it is supposed to work, I think Max stepped backwards instead of forwards. I have been very happy with past versions.
Hi tjhaas,
For me the speed is OK apart from the initial opening and saving of the form editor.
There is - or should be - an editor in the Custom Code element, scroll down and click the 'Switch Editor' button.
Bob
Very good, I didn't see the switch editor button.
I am still left with the problem of averaging 4 seconds with every action. Kind of odd, I have noticed that when I type in the value, etc. that the speed is fine. Clicking to another field, I then have to wait for the program to catch up.
I am wondering if there could be an issue with Ajax and the browser or if it is fighting with one of my security software programs?
Hi tjhaas,
v5 uses a lot of JS at the backend as Bob has noted, here are some hints to speed things:
#1- Use a different browser, just for the Joomla admin and Chronoforms, I suggest Chrome.
#2- If you have problems with delays when you open forms or save them then you can disable this in the Settings area, but this may restrict your form size on some servers, based on the security settings.
#3- Try it on a different PC.
If all the above fails then you can send me admin login to check this using the "Contact us" page.
Regards,
Max

Did you try ChronoMyAdmin for managing your Joomla database tables ?
Thank you, switching browsers did the trick. It is a shame browsers don't all have the same standards.
Thanks again. I am relieved the issue was that simple. I have been a fan of ChronoForm for several years.
