Non-registered users cannot view posts

coreyang 12 Sep, 2014
Hi. Appreciate some assistance. Have been struggling with permissions setting.
How do I set it such that public, non-registered users can view the posts.
Currently, if not registered, they can view list of topics but can't view posts (no permissions notice shown)

Under settings, I have set forum permissions as no.
Under permissions, "read/view topics", I have set all as "allowed".

Thanks.

Hi coreyang,

Is this a ChronoForums question? If so I'll move it over to that forum. (Sorry about the confusing names.)

Ah, my mistake. Sorry, please move it over. Thanks.

You must login/logout after you change permissions, also the permissions should be setup under the permissions area, not under the forums edit page!

Dear Max,

Yes, I have tried doing both. But still no luck.
Have attached screen shots of my settings.

Thanks.

Ok, please go to the users manager and open the options area then make sure the guest group is set to either guest or public and save.

Also did you login/logout of the website frontend after doing the changes ?

Hi Max,

Yes, Guest group already set as public. There is no "guest" option for me to select.
Have also logged in/out of frontend.
Still doesn;t appear to work.

Ok, what happens exactly when you click the topic link ? you also said that no permission notice appear, does it appear when a non logged in user tries to post a reply for example ?

There is a permissions issue, what about the permissions under the forum ? do you have them setup in any way ?

Hi Max.
All Permissions under Categories and Forum set as "inherited".

Hi Max,

Would you be able to assist with the above issue? Still trying to figure it out, but to no avail 😟

Thanks very much.

Hi Corey,

Apologies for not replying sooner!

Please try to "save" the users manager options, you must open it then click the "save" option, even if you change nothing, then retry the permissions, if the problem still exists then please send me admin login using the "contact us" page to check this!

Max

Answer
Hi Corey,

As I have already noted, all I did was to save the "users manager" options, that did the trick I think, you should also clear your browser's and website caches after doing any changes, but I didn't do this here!

Max
