PLUGIN CAUSING CSS ISSUES IN TEMPLATE

kairey 29 Jul, 2014
Long time since I have been on here but tried to updated some of my Joomla 1.5 sites that were starting to get hit by hackers!

Updates on a few sites have been easy then I got stuck on this 1 using the V4 Chronoforms plugin!

I have I think narrowed the issue down, its how to solve it?

It seems on www.gibraltarsailingschool.com on some category pages it is loading css and js files on pages that do not contain a form. When it does this it breaks the template by greying out the white main text area and losing the left and right margin images. Some category pages it does not load any files and these display fine?

This is a really odd behaviour and I have tried resaving, recreating categories but it makes no difference....

If I disable the plugin, the problem goes, but then I have no forms. Its simply down to why is it loading .js and .css files on some category pages and then causing the template to break?

Attached images so you get the drift....

PS I need to revoke a license key for 1 of my domains how do I do that?

I spoke to the template developer, they don't know why it is causing this issue? Why it should try loading chronoform css and js on some category pages is unknown, but it causes the template to break...

Normal article pages with no form all seem ok and don't call any Chronoform files....

I tried V5, but for some reason I get blank pages in the admin when I click some of the menu links, like new sample form...

Hi Kevin,

I haven't seen this before and I don't have an immediate answer ;-(

The scripts being loaded are for the 'contact' form, As far as I can see from the front end that is only being loaded using a plug-in - presumably the ChronoForms plug-in - in the Contact article.

The scripts should only be loaded if ChronoForms is being run on the page load i.e. there is a form in the page.

I wonder if there is a ChronoForms menu item somewhere, or a module on the page - but I don't see any evidence of that.

All rather mysterious.

The only suggestion I have is to try a little detective work to try to pin it down. A temporary change to a standard template; change the name of the form; unpublish the form; . . . see which, if any, of these make a difference.

Hi Bob....

Still no joy on this, no menu item, changed name of form etc. I switched to another template but that didn't really show anything up as it was a simple one...

Odd that it calls the Chronoform script on some category pages and not others, I can't see any reasoning either behind that one?

I wanted to try V5, see if that solved anything but as said above, I keep getting blank pages using this in the backend....

Th template developer has a form UNIFORM, but its of no use to me as it cannot send the link to the page the form was submitted from, something Chronoform does....

Don't know what to try now.... ;-)

Damn!

Thought I had cracked it then....

Changed the name of the form, problem disappeared, but then changed the call within the articles to the new name and it went back to showing the problem again on the pages...

Argh.......

Hi Kevin,

By all means email or PM me the site URL, the form name, and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look. I'll be groping around in the dark a bit but might spot something.
