Migrate from Kunena to ChronoForums

KSHH 23 Jul, 2014
Hi guys!

I'm getting sick and tired of Kunena, and want to migrate to ChronoForums, as it looks to be one of the best forums extensions on the market today.

As i can see in the Migrate Options in ChronoForums, the only way to migrate is with a phpBB3 forum. Is there any other way i can migrate from my existing Kunena forum to ChronoForums ?

Thanks in advance, hope you guys can tell me what to do.🙂

Anyone got a answer?

Hi KSHH,

Unfortunately there is no migrator that I know of, a new one will have to be written, and for that I need to analyze Kunena's database structure, and this needs time which I don't have at the moment.

But its on my todo list!🙂

Sounds great, as i really want to migrate over to ChronoForums. The design is also a LOT better than Kunenas.🙂

Any news on it ?🙂

I would too really appreciate a migration tool with detailed instructions from Kunena to ChronoForums. It seems to more robust and have better options then Kunena.

The thing is I have a relatively big Kunena forum running on a Joomla 2.5 website and I can't really erase all this content plus user base and start back from scratch.

Any news on when/if this tool will be developed?

Thanks in advance for your precious help!🙂

I have tried to convert from kunena to chronoforums and data looks ok in most ways .
Only my avatars and attachements don't get "converted"
First it was a matter of rights on the folder but i tried again and it looks they aren't changed/transferred .
Pretty sure i'm gonna leave kunena because this look a lot better and what a great support on a free extension to offer a conversion in such short time !
Congrats !
Is there somewhere a global topic to inform about bugs ?
(yep found one ... translation to dutch is missing 's' at the '%' for variable fields )

Hi neujensl,

Please move the attachments files yourself to the attachments folder under Chronoforums, and the avatars too, but the migrator doesn't import the avatars data, this is a bug which I will need to fix!

You are welcome to send me the updated translation file and I will include it when the new update is ready!
