Error messages are not displaying (Both Javascript & Server Side Validation)

Hello Friends,

I am trying to display the form validation error messages in the form which is developed using the Chrono Form component in Joomla. I have tried all the options from the Joomla administration panel under Components -> Chrono Forms -> Form Management -> Validation Tab, but it is not working. When I click the Submit button, it is redirecting to the /index.php?option=com_chronocontact&task=send&chronoformname=contact_us&Itemid=30 and again it is redirecting back to the same form page but it is not displaying the error messages. Expecting your kind help to sort out this issue.

Hi Srinivasan,

This is a very old version of ChronoForms (and Joomla!). It may have used Joomla! system messages to show the errors and it's possible that your template doesn’t display them.

I have used <jdoc:include type="message" /> code in the template, but still it is not displaying.
If the click submit button, will it redirect as I mentioned above ?

Thanks for your kind reply. I have found the issue. The validation related file/code is entirely missing in this chrono contact 3.1 RC5.5.

So, there are two options to make it work.
1. I need to implement validation by editing the core files of the chrono contact component.
2. As I do not have any updated chrono contact version for my Joomla 1.5.25, I need to go for chronoform V4.

My question is :
1. what is the difference between the chrono contact & chronoform ?
2. Is there a way to upgrade from chrono contact 3.1 RC5.5 to chronoform v4 ? OR I need to install the chronoform v4 & create the form & other setting from scratch ?

Hi Srinivasan,

There is no automatic upgrade from ChronoForms v3 to v4. Please see this FAQ

ChronoForms v4 has more features and will run on Joomla! 2.5 and 3 if you are planning to upgrade (ChronoForms v3 is for Joomla! 1.5 only).

You can reinstall ChronoForms v3 to recover the missing files. v3.2 is the last release.

FYI: currently chrono contact 3.1 RC5.5 is installed in the website, not the chronoform.

Also, there is no option to download the chrono contact 3.1 RC5.5 at http://www.chronoengine.com/downloads/chronocontact.html. So, could you please guide me from where I can download it ?

I would suggest that you download ChronoForms v3.2 for Joomla! 1.5 - that is the latest release of the version you are using.
