is it possible to have the form after submit go back to the page where the visitor came from, like with an <a href="javascript:history.go(-1)"> ?

Probably - but I'm not sure exacly how. The problem is capturing the previous page url. It may or may not be available in the server info. Possibly you could capture it into a hidden field using the javascript history somehow . . .
