Email sent as Root User <root@localhost>

aftabn10 23 May, 2014
Hi, i am new to the world of chronoforms and needed some advice with an issue i am having. I have recently installed chronoforms v5 and managed to setup a simple form with a name field and email field and a submit button.

In the setup section I have also added {name} and {email} as these are the field names under the email action settings in From name and From email.

I am able to receive the details when testing the form on my email address but i have noticed that the name and email address appear as Root User <root@localhost>.

I have googled this and come across the need to change the mail settings under global configuration > server > mail settings and this shows the following details:

Mailer: PHP Mail
From email: myemail@myemail.co.uk
From name: MyWebsite

which all looks fine so I am not sure what else i can do.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Btw love this module so thank you.

Hi aftabn10,

Please start by testing a simple email with the most basic details:
To, Subject, From name & From email

After all is working you can try the dynamic stuff, the from name and from email fields must contain a string and an email address respectively.

You should make sure that you have the latest v5 update as well.

Thanks admin, I have been setting up dummy forms and filled in the dynamc areas with {name} and {email} in the values but i still get the email coming from root@localhost. Where am i going wrong?

If someone could please help.

Thanks in advance.

Please use the static area firs, don't start testing with the dynamics.

Please remove the brackets {}, they are not needed here!
