Upgrading Forms

baxterdown 13 May, 2014
Hi Bob,

I'm getting ready to upgrade a website to J2.5 from J1.5 for a non-profit organization where I volunteer. Since it's a small site, I'm just recreating the content on the new Joomla install.

The current site has some LOOONG pet-adoption forms.

Are there ANY shortcuts I could take so I don't have to manually recreate these forms from scratch on CF5? Would creating a form on CF5 and then copying/pasting the form code work? I'm dreading having to redo these forms manually.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!๐Ÿ˜€

Regards,

Jose

Hi Jose,

You can copy and paste the Form HTML from the CFv3 form into a Custom Element (or better break it up into several Custom elements) in CFv4 or CFv5. You still have to re-build the action sequences but that is less time consuming.

Copy and Paste will get the form up and running but if at all possible it's worth the effort to re-build the HTML in the new version too. With thee long forms I'd probably opt to break them up into sections as a multi-page form,
