Linking from menu

Ri Riceman 16 Jun, 2008
Hi, I am having trouble linking to my new form. I am using Joomla 1.5 and have tried:

• Changing the type of link to a Chronoforms link ( I have tried this with/and without the name of the form "contact" ) I only have one form...so i thought i would try it both ways.

• Using the External Link and pasting the link form the form management page. This option always add the "itemid=14"...so that doesn't work.

• Opening the link/preview of my form and pasting that link in the External Link menu item.

This seems so silly...what am i missing? Thanks for a great script.

Hi Riceman,

I just copy the link from the Forms Manager and use a URL entry in the menu manager, seems to work OK.

Thanks for the response, but I am still having issues. I choose External Link as the type of menu item and entered the full url which is:
http://www.skyridgemedia.com/staging/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=contact

but for some reason Joomla is adding the item ID (&Itemid=14) at the end, so the url turns into:

http://www.skyridgemedia.com/staging/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=contact&Itemid=14

With the item ID I get me my breadcrumbs, but no form, without the item ID I get my form, with no breadcrumbs. If I have to choose I can go without the breadcrumbs. Is there a way to "turn off" item ID?

Hi Riceman,

Which version of Joomla are you using? I just tried an Internal link with Joomla 1.5 and that appears to work OK.

Hi Riceman,

Have you tried the Internal link route - the form name goes in the parameter box to the right of the page. (Sorry if you've already tried this - I'm not clear from the earlier posts).

Yes, i tried making the type of link to a Chronoforms link and putting the name of the form "contact" (without the parentheses) in the parameter box...still no luck.

Hi Riceman,

Weird, I just tested that and it worked perfectly. Is yours sie on-line? Can you email me a temporary admin logon to the address in my sig and I'll take a look.

Hi Riceman, not sure if you got this problem fixed or not, but one thing i had noticed is that you have to click the link in your form manager to bring up the form in a new window, and then COPY the address from the address bar of your browser. Hope this helps out!
