Filedownloader filename issue

coccoster 11 Apr, 2014
Hi All,

Have set up file downloader in accordance to this article: https://www.chronoengine.com/faqs/57-cfv4/cfv4-actions/2757-how-do-i-use-the-file-downloader-action.html

The settings used for file down loader utility are:

Download Path: "JOOMLA_PATH"
File name: /downloads/filename.exe
File path: /downloads/filename.exe

I have downloaded 3 separate times and had 2 different file names; "index.php", "download" all with correct file size.

Hi coccoster,

As far as I remember the File Name should just be the name of the file - without the path; and the File Path should just be the path - without the name.

Have changed to match what you said but the same issue applies.

Hi coccoster,

Exactly what settings do you have now?

Please clear the "file name path" field, you don't need that here!

Do you have the .exe file under the Joomla root folder ?

Answer
Ok, then clear the "file name path" and set the "downloads path" to JOOMLA_PATH/downloads/

Same problem occurring.

Filesize is right, file name is "download" instead of ARD-Setup.exe

For the mean time, I have moved file into root directory (not downloads folder).

However, i receive a couple errors, as shown below.

Display field errors is set to no in show HTML event btw.

How/where do you get the errors ? the download should start before the page changes.

Also your path still has "downloads" with double slashes

Once the Submit button is clicked, I am brought to another page (thankyou page). At the top the errors show up however I have information filled in all boxes that are displaying an error.

Strange! please disable the cache if you have it enabled and test the form using the "view form" link in the forms mnager, does it work ?

If not then please post new screenshots fort he "Events" section and the "File downloader" setup!

Hi, Is there any reason that with the settings i have above, the file download action times out and does not download the file?
Max_admin 05 May, 2014
If everything is setup correctly then no, it should work fine and it has been tested before!

Please try the following:
#1- test on a different browser!
#2- try to download a file which is not .exe
#3- post a new screenshot for the file download settings!
