Maybe it's obvious to everyone else, but the FAQ for this program leaves out one very important question: How do I install ChronoForms?
The video tutorial is no help either, since it apparently deals with Joomla 1.0. I have 1.5 and when I try to install the .zip file I downloaded from this site, I get the following error:
Warning! - Failed to move file
Since there is no documentation on the ChronoEngine site, I don't know if I'm even doing it properly.
From Extensions:Install/Uninstall
I click on the Browse... button, select ChronoForms V2.5 J1.5 RC2.1.zip as downloaded from the ChronoEngine site, then click Upload File & Install and I get the above error message.
What's up with this?

Hi randy270,
It installs just the same way as any other Joomla component - just as you described. Sounds like your Joomla installation may have some kind of a permissions problem, though I'm not sure what.
Joomla 1.5 offers both a manual install and an FTP install I think, perhaps one of those will work better for you?
Bob
PS A quick Google on "Joomla Warning! - Failed to move file" finds a raft of messages. Two possible causes seem to be server timeouts (this was on GoDaddy) and temporary folder permissions.

I did forget to mention that I was installing on a localhost. Yes, it was a permissions issue, that once fixed, allowed for an easy install.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I'm having this problem as well. I'm installing onto a remote server. Can someone please explain what the permissions issue is. The message I get is:
I'm not sure which folders I need to change permissions on, and in Joomla 1.5 there is no option to change all the file permissions.
Can anyone help me out?
* JFolder::create: Could not create directory
* Warning! - Failed to move file

Hi asprinwizard,
ChronoForms requires a new folder in /components with some sub folders and the same in administrator/components. These are pretty standard Joomla extension requirements.
It could be though that your error occurs on the upload which may mean that the folder Joomla is using to save the zip file to isn't writeable.

But all other components and modules install fine using this method. This is the only one which gives me problems
I'm happy to create folders in /components and /administrator/components but what do these need to be called?
Can anyone advise what i should try next?
Thanks

Juts make the /components and /administrator/components directories writeable.
Run the install and then return them (directories) to your previous permission settings.

Hi,
do you have Joomla 1.5 ? if yes then at your Joomla global config, setup and enable the FTP account, this "may" fix your permissions issues since joomla will try to use FTP at files processing!
Cheers
Max
