Dynamic Data on Easy Wizard?

TechMistress 07 Mar, 2014
Am I to understand that the Dynamic From items do not work with the Easy Wizard?

No matter WHAT I do in the emails tab, the dynamic From name does not work. I would like the emails sent to admin to show the FROM Name, not the admin name. When replying, it replies to the visitor's email, however.

My Setup:
Enabled: YES
To *: My Admin email
Subject *: New web contact
From name *: My admin name
From email *: My Admin email

TEMPLATE HERE

Attachments fields name: ---
Include IP address: Yes
Dynamic To: Email
Dynamic Reply to name: Name
Dynamic Reply to email: Email

Hi TechMistress,

You'd need to remove the From email setting BUT I strongly recommend that you do *not* use the Dynamic From Email element in your Email Setups. Using this often results in your emails being marked as spam and dropped into a spam filter. Instead use the static From Email with an address that matches the site domain name and use Dynamic ReplyTo Email for the user email. The result is the same but with a much better chance of good delivery.

I'm not worried about the email much at all. What I need is for the Name of the customer to show up in the From field when I receive the email. It always shows static name or, if left blank, site admin.

Any way to make the Name show up?

Hi TechMistress,

Well, techically the email isn't from the User, it's from your website so it may not be possible. As I said before, email where the from address is different from the sending domain are likely to be marked as spam.

You can test by leaving the static From address empty and adding the Dynamic From Email address but it may not work.

Again, I am not concerned about the Email, it's the NAME of the customer I want to show when email arrives. When a dozen inquires come in, and they all say they are from "Admin" or whoever is in the required From field, it gets confusing.

I would like the From name to have the name of the person who filled out the form.

The static form fields are required, if left blank the email comes from the website default root or admin user.

The Dynamic fields actually only the email works. I hit reply and it brings up the client's email - I just want the NAME to show. Is this possible?

Hi TechMistress,

If you just want the name then you can probably use the Dynamic From Name and leave the Static From Email. You'd probably need to set the Dynamic ReplyTo Name and Email as well or someone will get upset when they try to reply and the email goes astray.

Alternatively (or additionally) you could put the user name in the email subject.

Ok, so it does not work then. I've done all of those things, if you look at my first post. The dynamic name does not work at all. And when putting the dynamic name in the subject (with or without brackets) it simply shows "name".

Hi TechMistress,

Well. it's all worked for me hundreds of times. sorry it doesn't work for you.

Please turn debug on in the form General Tab, then submit the form and post the debug - including the 'dummy emails' results here.
