Event Switcher Load Events doing nothing

OK I'm probably being really dense here but in V4 I had a custom server side validation that checked if you were logged in.
The alternative seems to be an event switcher so I changed the event names and put the code in. Saved, closed the web browser etc, but there is nothing I can do to make the load events button create a set of events. I just have the "on success" & "on fail" events.

What am I doing wrong?

But I will still want to understand how to get the event switcher to work as I was using your "event switcher [GH]" in V4 so need to get this to work in an equivalent way.

Authenticator seems only to authenticate a passed parameter. Not sure how I specify that parameter
The help text says "The param name which may contain a value for the owner id, if this is supplied then the Owner group will be checked." but how do I supply it ???
