RESOLVED: "Infinite Loop" on attempted install

arpboy 12 Jun, 2008
Hi, all:

Installing on a Joomla 1.5.3 setup.

System info:
PHP Built on: Linux 02b2091.netsolvps.com 2.6.9-023stab044.4-smp #1 SMP Thu May 24 17:20:37 MSD 2007 x86_64
Database Version: 5.0.22
Database Collation: utf8_general_ci
PHP Version: 5.1.6
Web Server: Apache/2.2.3 (Fedora)
Web Server to PHP interface: apache2handler
Joomla! Version: Joomla! 1.5.3 Production/Stable [ Vahi ] 22-April-2008 22:00 GMT
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0

When I try to install either of the 1.5 versions, I get the following error:

* JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected
* Warning! - Failed to move file

And the install fails.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

More information. My error log on the server shows this:

[Thu Jun 12 00:34:49 2008] [error] [client 12.216.252.204] PHP Warning: is_file() [<a href='function.is-file'>function.is-file</a>]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/www/vhosts/agent.yoursite/httpdocs/tmp/ChronoForms V2.5 J1.5 RC3.1(2).zip) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/agent.yoursite.com/httpdocs:/tmp) in /var/www/vhosts/agent.yoursite.com/httpdocs/libraries/joomla/filesystem/archive/zip.php on line 127, referer: http://agent.yoursite.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_installer

Looks like it's truncating the ".com" in a file...

Found the problem. I thought about deleting the message, but thought the post might help others with the problem.

I had created this Joomla install on a different server. There was a bad path to the tmp directory. Correcting this corrected the install.

All is well.
