ReCaptcha Not Working?

baxterdown 18 Dec, 2013
Hi Bob,

One of the forms on this website keeps getting false (hack attempts?) submissions. By false submissions I mean forms with all kinds of Chinese-looking characters or Russian-looking language.

I keep going back to the form to test it and it appears to be setup properly and the ReCaptcha works fine in the sense that if you don't enter is correctly, the form doesn't submit.

The only thing that I can think of, which I just noticed, is that the ReCaptcha is somehow set to only serve numbers. No matter how many times I refresh the captcha, it only shows number combinations.

Can you help?

Best

Hi baxterdown,

My guess is that they are human spammers as ReCaptcha works with JavaScript disabled. Your best bet is to try to identify some consistent pattern (the IP address may be useful) to identify these and then block them with Serverside validation.

The ReCaptcha numbers are nothing to do with ChronoForms afaik - this TechCrunch article may help explain them.
