No users can create a new topic - Access denied

jharbo 18 Dec, 2013
Hello, just installed v1_RC11 on J! 3.2 and it's installed fine and I'm able to create categories and forums and view them with my admin account and a test registered user, but I'm unable to create a new topic.

I get the typical: Access denied, you are not permitted to access this resource, you may not be logged in or your account may not have enough permissions.

Even with my site administrator account.

I'm read every permission post on the forum but I haven't found the solution yet. Even went as far to change every group from inherited to allowed under view/create and post. And I have logged out/in with my users after making the changes.

What could I possibly have missed?!

Thanks!

Ok I reviewed the install and everything looks normal as far as I can tell. I just built the site yesterday and almost all the settings are the default.

I've verified under the cronoforum home, the two directories are writable. So I'm at a loss here.

This is my test user if you would like to see what I'm talking about.

Thank you for any assistance!

All right, figured out what I was doing wrong. I misunderstood how the permissions worked. After changing the setting to allowed for registered users under the Permissions tab on the Home screen, everything works fine. I thought the forum permissions would flow to the others set to inherited.

Well, I am having the exact same issue as you and I have tried damn near everything and I cannot get any user/group to be able to post on the forums. Even my administrator account has no access.

I have tried what you worked through here on your own to no avail.

I am also concerned at how there were no posts at all on your thread and you basically worked through it on your own.

Is there still some support avaliable to help me work through this? I don't want to have to reinstall everything, but that is what it looks like I may have to do if I can't get permissions, or anything in the forums for that matter, to work properly.

Help plz?

Hi cscheck,

Please check the "Permissions setup" FAQ item under the Chronoforums section (from the main site), it should explain which permissions you need to setup and how to test them after configuration!
