Incorrect CAPTCHA code resets file upload fields

sjkelley 06 Jul, 2013
I have been using ChronoForms 4.0 RC3 5.2 for awhile and it works great. One small bug I've noticed, though, is that when an incorrect CAPTCHA code is entered, any file upload field entries are cleared when form is republished. (I have "Republish Form Data" set to "YES" in the "Show HTML" action.)

All other fields (textboxes, checkboxes, etc.) are all republished... just not the file upload fields.

Is this a known bug? Is there a known workaround? Or do I simply have some setting wrong?

Thanks!

Hi sjkelley,

As far as I know it's a feature of the browser system; the entry in the file upload is a path on the user's computer. The path is never sent to the server (the file is) so it can't be republished if there is a Captcha failure.

If it is a big problem then use a multi-page form with the Captcha on the first page and any file uploads on a later page. You may still get problems from Serverside validation errors but you'll avoid the Captcha ones.
