Permission settings is very confusing...
On the Board Settings
I set all the public to Not Set, and created a User Group named it "Denied" and set the "Guest User Group" as the denied group its not public anymore.. So now i have a new user on the Board Settings called denied and I set everything to denied for the denied user..
Since then all users that are not logged in or considered as guest are the denied user.. but then i tried view any post and they are still viewable even thought i haven't logged it.. After that i tried logging in my super admin account and logged back out to refresh the user settings but still guest users or the denied users can still view all the post..
How can i set the forum to be private and unregistered users and guest can't see or view any post.. is this possible? Already spent an hour and a half testing every settings but still i can't set the forum to be private

I too am experiencing this issue. I will let you know what I find
Ya! hours for me too but not getting anywhere and I don't want to give up on Chronoforums! Chrono products are great so I am sure I am doing something incorrectly.
Perhaps when Max gets a chance, he will jump in here.

Config Details
All users set to "not set" except for "Board" (Custom user group same level as "Registered") "Administrator", "Super Administrator" which are set to allow
These Permision values have been set the same in "Categories", "Forums" and "Permisions" (All Tabs)
Configured like this, while logged in as "Super Administrator", "Administrator" or "Board", I can do everything (View, Post, Edit, and see attachments) but as a "Public" user I can't do anything except view.
Its strange that my settings affect everything but the ability to view. If I copy any of the links to a forum or post and log out then paste the link into a browser, I can still see the forum and post but no other functionality...like edit or report. If I click "new post" or "reply to post", it says I do not have permission and that is what I want. Why then does it allow the viewing?
😀 Thanks in advance for your time and wisdom!

Hello guys,
I don't think we have any permissions to control "view" yet, but I will try to add this feature in the next few days!
The permissions for forums/categories will only control if the forums/category is "listed" or not, but it doesn't really affect the access of the forum or its topics/posts!
Regards,
Max

Hi Max,
 Thanks for the speedy reply!
lightbulb As a work around could I just set the chronoconnectivity front end list to view for the target group and admins only. I am unsure if I should try this as I noticed at current in the "CFORUMS" connection there are no Front end list permissions defined.
😀 I can't thank you enough in advance for your work to incorporate this functionality into a future release, the fact that your so willing to improve your product speaks volumes about the quality you guys are producing. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Again!

Hi gamma1itman,
Well, the latest Chronoforums versions don't use either CF or CC, so you can't make any changes yourself, it will be something in the core code, you may send me a message through the "Contact us" page to get an early patch if you like!🙂

What about having the ability to view a forum or category but not post in it? For example I have a set of users who need to be able to post in and view posts in 2 categories and another set of users that need to post AND view in one category and ONLY VIEW in another. Is that accomplishable now? I see how I can deny one user group the ability to post in all categories, but I need them to be able to post in one category and not another.
Hi,
The "per forum" permissions is not fully implemented yet but I'm working on it, you may contact me through the contact us page to get an early installer when its ready.

Max
