Email #2 sending to Email #1 adresses

Silma 12 Mar, 2013
Hello,

First , please excuse my english.
I've got some difficulties with the mail function.

I'm using Chronoform 4.0 RC3.5.2.4 with Joomla 3.0.

I've done a form in the Easy Form Wizard mode that send an email.

Email #1 :
---------------------------
Enabled : Yes
To : myadresse@email.com, x@dom.com,z@dom.com (with true adresses!)
Subject : TEST
From name :ME
From email: myadresse@email
Email template : Generated
Dynamic To : (empty)
Dynamic Reply to name : (empty)
Dynamic Reply to email: (empty)
---------------------------

Everything works well.

Then I wanted to make an email for the sender :

Email #2 :
---------------------------
Enabled : Yes
To : (empty)
Subject : SENDER COPY
From name : ME
From email: myadresse@email
Email template : "Here's a copy of you message" + Generated
Dynamic To : senderemail
Dynamic Reply to name : (empty)
Dynamic Reply to email: (empty)
---------------------------

The 2 email are send.
The trouble is that the email #2 is send to the dynamic adresses + to all adresses in the "to" fields of #1 email - which is not good, because the sender get the adresses of everybody.

What i have done wrong ?
Thanks a lot in advance for any answer, and sorry if the question has already been sent - i did not found it.

Hi Silma,

I haven't seen that problem before :-(

Please take a Form Backup using the icon in the Forms Manager and post it here (as a zipped file) or PM or email it to me and I'll take a closer look.

Hi Silma,

I tested your form on my sever and there is no cross-over of the To Email addresses. One is sent to the fixed list, the second to the User.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for trying it.

I received your test mail (Email #1), and not the copy of it (Email #2)

It must be something whith my install, then
On my website, with the config you just tried, everybody receive Email #2.

I'll make a bit more test, if i find something i'll come and give news.

Hello,

Just to give new, i was never able to send an email to a dynamic field only: the static field of the other email always get the message too. (first email only to statics adresses, second email to dynamic + statics )

I tried various things like exchange mail order, or force an "else if" instead on an "if" on the to field on the recipients in the email.php files, but nothing works.

I finally did only one email, with a to, a dto and bcc field for the ones i didnt wanted to be seen.
It's not exactly what i wanted because there is no "copy mention" but at least the sender doesn't see the adresses of everyone, and the recipients does not receive 2 messages each time.
(In fact, it's probably what i would have done from the beginning if there had been a bcc field in the easy wizard mode.)

Thanks again for everything, i'll let you now if a further release of joomla sorts out things.

(And sorry for my english)

I am experiencing the exact same issue. Email 1 is set up with a "To" static address as a notification of form submission. Email 2 is configured with a blank "To" and the "dynamic to" is set to the user provided email. When I test, email 1 is sent just fine. Email 2 gets sent to the user provided address which is great but it also sends to the static "To" from email 1 configuration causing both addresses to appear in the recipient list.

I don't understand why this happens and it is not ok for public users to see the static email addresses. Was this issue ever resolved? GreyHead?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Dan,

Is this Joomla! 3? There is a known bug, there.

For Joomla! 2.5 I think that there are fixes for this in the FAQs.

Hi Bob,

I appreciate the response. Sorry, I was out all of last week. The Joomla version I am running is Joomla 3.1. Glad to hear this is a known bug. Any idea when a patch/update will be released?

Thanks,
Dan
