Write privileg for registered users

ks kstrathus 01 Mar, 2013
Hi there.

Found your new chronoforums-component and installed into a testing environment.
I can't find the setting to grant registered users to write new topics.
See here frontend:
Write privileg for registered users image 1
See backend:

Is there any documentation for chronoforums?
Are there any german translations?

Thanks

Hi,

I don't know anything about ChronoForums so I've asked Max to come and take a look.

Hello,

You can set this under the "permissions" section in the admin area of the extension, set "Registered" to "Allowed" under the "Make posts" section.

I hope this helps.

My apologies for amending a (possibly) solved thread, but I have a nearly identical issue.

The "gotcha" is that I already tried allowing each group permission to make posts as suggested, (and I've purged Joomla's cache just to be sure,) but I am still unable to create posts in my new forums. Additionally, I don't have a "Registered" user group; rather, my "Registered" access level encompasses a "Community" group and others.

This is on a recently-upgraded Joomla 3.x install. (It looks like the OP who had also tried setting permissions to "allow" is also using 3.x)

I would certainly appreciate any help getting this figured out. Thanks!

Hi Brian,

Here are some notes:

#1- you have to logout then login again after changing permissions to refresh the session's data.
#2- if 1 user is assigned to 2 groups, X and Y, then at least one group has to be "Allowed" access for the resource (make posts) and the other group should NOT be "denied".

Let me know if this doesn't solve it.

Hello,
I`ve got the same issue with Joomla 2.59. I have 3 user groups public, registered and admin. To access the forum you have to login on my side, because the menu link to the forum is only available for registered users. In the permission section I put all options to "allowed" except for the public user group. But if I try to post something as admin or as registered user I`ve got the message "Access denied, you are not permitted to access this resource, please login", but I`m log in.
I`m only allowed to post something if I change the public user group permission to allowed. It`s a bit strange it looks like the permission management doesn`t work in the right direction.
My admin user is in the groups admin and registered and my registered test user in the group registered.

Hi Steffen,

I guess you have set the "Public" to denied ?

The permissions are inheritable, and since public is the parent of all groups, setting it to denied will deny them all even if they are allowed, instead just set it to "not set" and change others to allowed.

You have to logout then login again when you do these changes.

Great, thank you for your fast help. I didn`t consider that aspect. I`m new in joomla and it looks like I did a beginner mistake, but it`s great that I learn something new every day.

Cheers!
