Hey guys,
I'm pretty sure I did the upgrade right, but maybe I had previous issues. When I've been using chronoforms since joomla 1.5 the component has always showed up in the control panel (uninstaller) as "Chronocontact". Now when I installed v4.0, there are 2 entries and the 2nd one is "Chronoforms". Chronocontact as v3.2 and Chronoforms as v4.0
I'm not sure if that is expected or not. the v4.0 version I downloaded is for J15.

Okay great!
So I have my forms in V3.2 and I have backed them up. What is the way then I can get them into the new version before uninstalling the old version? when I attempt to import them I guess I'm getting the expected version error.
The file uploaded was not a Chronoforms V4 forms backup file.
How do I overcome this?

Ouch! Do we know if by any chance (due to technical limitations or by choice) if in the future that this will be the way upgrades will have to happen?

Hi Aaron,
I have no idea, I guess it depends on how much the underlying architecture changes in Joomla and in ChronoForms. In this case CFv4 is pretty much a total re-write of the code.

okay, well I was looking for more. We should be really putting that as an action item to figure out. To be honest, if I had to do this type of migration each time, I would maybe look to other vendors. Who wants to migrate this over and over.
So at the least, we should have a road map so the users know. Being left out and being told "sorry" each time, won't make good relationships. I understand your answer, but understand where the users come from. As QA professional I would strongly recommend that these don't happen, and if they do, they are forewarned.

Hi Aaron,
Max makes those decisions; I have zero influence over them and usually find out when the new releases come out. I sympathise with the problems it causes.

Thanks Bob! I appreciate you getting back to me. I didn't want to cause any problems but I was a bit off from that. I'll start at it now because I think this could take a bit.
At the least we should dedicate a certain thread for this so we can share with each other the tips and tricks to really making these as smooth as possible.
