localhost and emails

omens 03 Dec, 2012
I'm creating an intranet for my workplace. One of the functions was to have an incident reporting form. It needs to be anonymous, which is why the default joomla contact form was unsuitable (wanted name and contact email).

Chronoforms has helped me make a very basic form (date, title, text, submit/reset) but I need to be able to email this form to the manager (external email address). Is there a way to do this anonymously, or would I have to set up an account with, say, gmail - something like incidentreport@gmail.com? How would I set this up through joomla/xampp?

Hi omens,

Web forms are pretty anonymous unless you add identifying information. Provided that your internal site can see the internet you should be able so send emails OK. If you are using Xammp you may need to set to the provided mail server (Mercury I think?) or possibly connect to another mail server. (My Xammp sites can't use GMail because they can't be reached from the internet to complete the mail login process.)
