Tutorial on server side validations?

rowby 21 Sep, 2012
Hello.

For some reason forms are getting through with required fields not being filled out.

I saw this topic:
http://chronoengine.com/forums/index.php?option=com_chronoforums&cont=posts&f=2&t=24403&p=105408&hilit=bypass+validation#p105408

...and would like to set up server side validation for the forms, hoping that would help.

Using Joomla 1.5 and chronocontact 3.1 RC5.5

Can someone point me to a link that shows how to set up server side validation? (Or is there some other reason why people can submit a form with required fields not filled out?

Thanks

Hi Rowby,

Please see this FAQ about spam blocking.

You can set up auto serverside validation by dragging the Auto Serverside Validation action into the On Submit event and adding the input names you want to validate.

Please see this FAQ about additional Custom Serverside Validation.

Bob

PS You should probably also upgrade to the latest CF release as there have been quite a few bug fixes and additions since the version you have.

Can I drag the "Auto Serverside" action into the OnSubmit with V 3.2 of Chronoforms. OR must I upgrade to Chronoforms_V4_RC3.5_J1.5.zip

I am building the form (using V.3.2) using the form wizard. I know the later V4 has more options etc. Joomla 1.5

Hi Rowby,

Sorry, I forgot you were still on the old version. There is no Auto Serverside validation on CFv3 - but you can add custom validation using the box at the bottom of the Anti-Spam tab. See the 'i' tooltip for the syntax to use.
