Manual Credit card payments

antigeek 05 Aug, 2012
Hi there

Wondering if anyone can provide a guide or some info on setting up a simple form for accepting credit card payments that will be processed manually ( as in no payment gateway required ) with information to be taken/ delivered with SSL

Basically my client doesn't want to shell out for paypal or other payment gateways as they think its too expensive (yes I understand this would be the better way but am having trouble convincing them) at the moment they take credit card details over the phone and enter them manually and want to move this process to an online form that us emailed to them.

So my first question is using SSL and chronoforms is it possible to do this safely?
and if so what is the process...

Sorry if it seems like a noob question, I understand how most of the functionality of chronoforms works but have never used it in this way and just want to make sure myself and my client are covered.

We are on Joomla 1.5.26 and using Chronoforms_V4_RC3.4.1

Thanks in advance to anyone that can shed some light on this for me

Hi antigeek,

They should check out their bank's regulations for taking credit card payments over the internet - thy may well be more rigorous than for taking them over the phone.

You could easily enough set up a form that used SSL and an encrypted email of some kind but that still might not meet the bank's requirements. You would need to be clear that the security of client info isn't your responsibility.
