Redirect URL issue

Hardyman 14 May, 2008
I am new to CF. So far I love it!

I have made a new form. It grabs basic information. I have a duplicate of that form.

The first does not have a redirect url, the form info is emailed and copied into the db table. Then places you on a blank page.

The second form (identical to the first) redirects to a Thank You page. The email is sent but the information is not added to the table.

Not sure if the redirect page is supposed to complete the form or not.

I have looked into the update for RC 3.1, but can't seem to see how to install this update. I'm sure this is something real simple that I just can't find.

Hi Hardyman,

There was a short-lived bug in one release that might have done this. The redirect should be the last thing that ChronoForms does after saving to the database - so it shouldn't stop that.

To upgrade just download the upgrade package and copy the files over the exisiting ones.

Thanks for the quick reply Bob. Great work on CF! I am running a local version of Joomla using BitNami for OS X. So it's real easy to swap out files. I did what you said and replaced the files with your update.

I am still having the same issue. With the redirect, the tables are not updated with the form info. Once I take the redirect off it works fine. Is there possibly a java script I should run to show the user the form is submitted? Or is this redirect the best way?

Hi Hardyman,

Please make sure that you have overwritten the chronocontact.php file, there was a problem which was causing this and it has been fixed in RC3.1

Cheers

Yes, I made sure to overwrite that file. I am still having the same issue. I just used the form. Email came through fine. DB was untouched.

I took out the redirect url and now everything works fine, however there is not notification that the information was sent.

I'm running out of ideas...

Is there a way I can find out if I am running RC3 or RC3.1?

Hi Hardyman,

In Joomla admin go to Extensions | Install/Uninstall | Components and you can see the CF version number.

I have 2.5 J15. RC3.1 16.04.2008

Hey Bob. Yes I am running 2.5 J1.5 RC3.1; 16.04.2008. So everything looks good on the CF side of things.

yes but after the bug appeared, the file has been re uploaded, I think few users downloaded it in this short period of time and may be you was one of them, try to overwrite your chronocontact.php with the one in the current package!

Cheers

Hi Hardyman,

It seems that there are more buggy versions out in the wild than we thought. If you have Joomla 1.5 and have this problem with data not saving with a RedirectURL please download the fixed version of chronocontact.php from this post and overwrite the copy in your installation.
