Importing Chronoform V3 Database to V4

ignatiusack 14 Jun, 2012
Hi Guys

I have looked around and sure the information must be here somewhere, but were not able to find it.

This is the situation.
1. I am rebuilding my Joomla 1.5 website in Joomla 2.5.
2. On my original 1.5 site I am using V3, and needs to import my 50 or more forms
to my new 2.5 Website, which has the latest version installed.
3. The problem is that it will not import my V3 database into V4.

So the question is, How will I get to import my Forms into the new Joomla 2.5 website.
I get the following error
"The file uploaded was not a Chronoforms V4 forms backup file."
I am using Joomla 1.5.22.

Can I safely upgrade this joomla 1.5.22 and Chronoforms V3 to chronoforms V4?

Your help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Ignatius

Hi Ignatious,

I'm afraid that there is no automatic upgrade from CFv3 to CFv4. The underlying code is very different and Max has chosen not to write a 'translator'.

You can copy and paste chunks of code - for example the Form HTML and some custom code - but the form functionality, emails, DB Save, etc. has to be re-built. Given a choice I recommend re-building from scratch in CFv4 but I recognize that's not a simple task with 50 forms. If there are groups of similar forms it may well be possible to consolidate them with a little extra code.

Hi Greyhead

Thanks you for ruining my weekend.
Guess what I'll be doing when others are having fun in the winter sun.

It's a tough price to pay for progress, but I guess necessary.

Regards

Hi Ignatius,

I know how you feel, I've seen a few weekends go that way.
