Question about a release..

cdyerkes 09 May, 2008
Hi, I recently contacted you guys about whether or not chronoforms could create a form that would output the entries into a content item dynamically.

An example would be having a form with fields for "Movie Name", "Movie Release Date", "Download Movie Link"

Then when someone hits submit, it automatically populates the information into a content item. Something like this...that would allow you to edit the contents and stuff in case a mistake was made.

Anyway, I emailed the team about it and I was told that you were working on something that did this and would be releasing it very soon (like in a couple days). I asked about it a while ago and was wondering if you still had plans to release this plugin/function?

Thanks,
Chris Yerkes

Hi Chris,

I don't know if Max has plans for a new PlugIn to do this specifically - he may well do. You can do this with ChronoForms at it is. Save the data into a table and then use the Profile Plugin to create a 'display only' form in the content page.

I did find some examples of this in the forum, but would rather have it do it without me having to know any kind of php code : P

I suppose it was max who said he was planning it, but I don't remember the name signed on the email.

Anyway, I may not use chronoforms for this anyway. I'm still researching different components for joomla that may accomplish my goal. So far chronoforms seems to be a top candidate.

Hi Chris,

It would have been Max, he's the Chronoforms developer.

The Profile Plugin isn't well documented yet - too busy! But I think it will do what you want. Set up one form to collect the data then set up a second one using the Profile PlugIn to display selected fields from it.
