Hi,
Any reason why my form no longer saves the data since upgrading to RC3 version of ChronoForms? This site is running Joomla 1.5.1
It is the same form used on another Joomla site running J1.5 RC3 (not upgraded to stable yet), and older version of ChronoForms (not sure which version, but installed December 2007). That install works fine.
Maybe there are changes need to my form to work with latest version(s) of Joomla or ChronoForms?
Any help appreciated.
best wishes,
- Vince

Hi Vince,
Sorry, no idea. I didn't think that Max had changed anything in this area. Hopefully I'll have time to take a look over the weekend.

Hi Vince,
Yes, please do. And let me know which versions of Joomla and CF you are using. Thanks

Hi Bob, you are a diamond :cheer:
Email sent.
By the way, the server environment is:

PHP Version 4.4.8
MySQL
Database Version: 4.0.27-standard
Database Collation: N/A (mySQL < 4.1.2)
Client API version: 5.0.32

The above is the same for the other domain running older versions of J! and CF (same server).

no matter what i do, no data is saved.
Joomla! version 1.5.2
Apache version 2.2.8 (Unix)
PHP version 5.2.5
MySQL version 4.1.22-standard
i've tried deleting the db table, element tags, dataview field and autogenerated code, then redoing it all again but nothing works. nothing ever gets saved into the database.
however, the emailing system is fine.

hi Hadakajime,
Please take a Form Backup from the Form Manager and email it to me at the address in my sig so that I can take a closer look.

I'm also having the same problems with saving data to the database. I'm able to provide a backup if required. Running 2.5 J1.5 RC2 with Joomla 1.5.2.
Hi Vince,
Thanks for the nudge. Sorry, I'll go take a look now . . .
I think I was waiting till I installed the latest CF, I'll do that too.

Hi Vince,
The bad news is that it runs OK for me . . .
Joomla 1.5.2; Apache 2.2.4 (Win32), PHP 5.2.3, MySQL 5.0.45
ChronoForms 2.5 RC3.1
Small differences in set up but nothing that should affect this.
I restored the form, deleted the AutoGenerated code, recreated the table with all VARCHAR except the comments which I left as default, deleted the Redirect URL as it blocks the DeBug code. Saved and submitted the form and the record saved.
I'd suggest that you add some code to echo the sql in the AutoGenerated box and then try manually submitting the SQL in PHPMyAdmin. Sometimes this shows up small errors.

hmm I'd not spotted the auto generate code was missing on mine. Had some trouble installing the tables so had to do it manually. Now put the code in and it's working.
hi
no chance - i have resotred the form, deleted the tables, new generated the tables - nothing is saved.
news: i had a URL (in the field "redirect url) after the submit the form. when i delete this URL, the dates ares safed....
this is not amused - i can't make a message, that the formular is correct submitted.

Hi Matrix,
That looks like the bug that Ronan reported here Please try the attached copy of chronocontact.php and see if that fixes the problem (I've made the change that Ronan suggested and zipped the file so it will upload here).

Hi Matrix,
Thank you. I've updated the 2.5Rc3.1 download and upgrade packages.

Hi Bob,
I can also confirm that by taking out our thank-you URL the data is saved.
Now using the new chronocontact.php file the data is also saved even with our thank-you page.
Not sure how my form backup worked for you though.
Best wishes,

Hi Vincent,
Nor do I - weird. I think that maybe I hadn't upgraded properly. The default.ttf file won't copy and that may have caused some other files to be skipped . . . but I don't think so.

I followed the instructions for upgrading, but still no data is saved. Can I safely remove the component and then install it again?
Hi flodo,
It's unlikely that reinstalling will fix this problem. More likely that there is a problem with your form code.
You can uninstall and reinstall but you will loose all saved forms and form data. Save theses first - take Form Backups of the forms and backup all the jos_chronoforms_xxx database tables. Then reinstall, replace the table and Restore the forms.

I'd have done that by now, but theres a problem with the server now and it seems to have died...

Hi flodo,
That code looks OK - but is complicated for a test. If you try a simple form with just one text input and a submit button, does that save to your database?
Bob

This is what I've noticed regarding data not saving to the database. If I've got a redirect, (ie. "index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=72") than the data never gets put into the database. However, if I remove this redirect and use the default blank page, then the data WILL end up in the database.
Please review this experience and see if it has merit.

Hi pscarnegie,
There was a bug in the most recent release of ChronoForms for Joomla 1.5 that could have this effect. I thought it had been fixed in the most recent version of the download though.
See this thread for a fixed version of one file that you can download and post to your site.
