How to make it work with sh404sef

chuanse 01 May, 2012
Hi there,

first of all thank you for developing the CF software, I'm really getting fond of it.
Hoping to get it into production soon, I'm fighting with the sh404sef plugin.

Using latest versions of Joomla, sh404SEF en Chronoforms: is ther anybody who can tell me what to do about the url rewriting so when i submit a form, the confirmation or thank you page is not blank.

Problem is that there are no rewrite rules defined and the sef is messing with the url structure...

Is it possible to make an sh404SEF plugin for CF? Or to add rules to the standard .htaccess?

or maybe a procedure to block the rewriting of CF..?

Hi chaunse,

There used to be a setting in sh404SEF to skip some components. Is that still there?

You should also turn the 'Relative URL' setting in ChronoForms to 'No'. It's on the Form General tab, click the Form Name link to open it.

A long time ago I wrote a plug-in for older versions of ChronoForms and sh404SEF; then Yannick issued v2 but I never found any instructions for writing plug-ins for that and switched over to aceSEF on my sites.

I have no idea what is involved in writing a plug-in for the current version of sh404SEF and haven't used it since it became a paid extension.

Hi,

I disabled the component in sh404sef so it does not rewrite for CF.

Chronoform= leave as non-sef;do not translate;do not insert code;use Joomla! router.php;
per your instructions I also disabled the relative url in the specific form.

But it does not really change the problem, keep getting blank responses after submitting the form, unless when I refresh submitting blank page.
Anyway, a plugin for sh404sef is really needed, and I am even willing to pay for it.

On the other hand you say there are other SEF modules that do work with chronoforms? I still can get my money back from sh404sef, so I can go for another plugin...

Hi chuanse,

What URL do you see for the blank page?

I'm not sure that AceSEF necessarily works better with ChronoForms from a technical point of view (there's still no plug-in). I see very few problems reported - though that may be because it isn't so widely used???

i just made a simple contact form, and that is functioning properly...

I have no idea what is wrong with the other larger form ... :/

Hi chuanse,

If so, can you tell me what the thank you message is? Caus I don't see it... :/
And which url did you use, the backend one or the frontend menu one?

Hi chaunse,

I didn't see any Thank You message but the ChronoForms strap-line was there so I assumed that there wasn't one. I think it was the secodn link I submitted but both displayed the form OK.

Thanks for giving me all the feedback...! I appreciate it.

Wel, I am rebuilding the form step by step to see where it went wrong. It is something in the form alright. The second edition is not giving problems until now (1/4th is build yet)

Hi chuanse,

If someone decides to write one that would be great! :-)
