Chronoforms for Joomla 1.5 Registration

UPDATE: I determined that in fact I did NOT have the latest and the version I had, had no plugins including the registration plugin. Starting to work with that. Can I install a new version V2.5 RC2.1 over the earlier version directly V2.5 RC1a via the install components?


I would very much like to leverage ChronoForms for registration and profile update in Joomla 1.5. I have the latest version of ChronoForms but I am missing something as I am not clear how I would bolt a ChronoForm into the registration process and thus facilitate additional fields as part of the registration and profile update process.

I am a programmer so I really just need a high level step by step directive on what to do. Can you provide such a thing? Or a reference to where it might be explained OR send me a sample? This is a pressing item for me and I have looked around the forum with no luck. I look forward to hearing from someone soon.

Hi drouse,

The best way to update is to FTP the new files directly over the existing ones. (If you have a diff tool you can easily see which files you need to upload, usually it's only a handful.)

If you use install/uninstall than you'll lose any existing forms and form data. It's easy enough to back them up and restore afterwards but the FTP route is simpler.

Occasional upgrades modify the table structure that ChronoForms uses and Max usually the releases a dummy form that will execute the database commands for you.

The Joomla Registration plugin mainly replicates the Joomla registration process but substituting the fields from your ChronoForms form for the standard Joomla form. You cna add extra fields if you wish but you'll have to think through where they are saved and how they are used.

Come back and ask here, I've done a couple of these recently and I'm sure that Max has too.
