IE 7 blank page error

GreyHead 03 Apr, 2012
Hi Thomas,

Sorry, I can't work out what is happening. It looks as though the URL
http://stjan.org/nl/index.php?option=com_chronoforms&chronoform=inschrijving
somhow links to different forms and sometimes gives a blank page, sometimes a form, sometimes what looks like a 404 error.

Hi Bob,
It took me a while, but now I know what happens.
I'm working with a confirmation page.
The submit button needs to have the value _confirm so that the form will be directed to the Confirmation page confirm event.

IE7 doesn't use the value defined for the button (_confirm), but it takes its label (Submit) when sending the form. Chronoform doesn't know where to go and returns blank.

When submitting the form the debugger in Chrome returns:
Array
(
    [option] => com_chronoforms
    [chronoform] => new
    [event] => submit
    [Itemid] =>
    [lang] => nl
    [confirmation_page] => _confirm
    [language] => nl-NL
)

In IE7 it returns:
Array
(
    [option] => com_chronoforms
    [chronoform] => new
    [event] => submit
    [Itemid] =>
    [lang] => nl
    [confirmation_page] => Submit
    [language] => nl-NL
)

Any idea how to work around this issue? A background image to change the text of a button won't do: I have multilanguage forms...

I attached a very simplified version of my form to help reproduce the problem.

Thanks!
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I'm sorry. I don't understand the problem :-(

I've read your posts and the article you liked to. I've installed your form and tested with IE9 in IE7 browser mode (I don't have IE7) and everything appears to work OK.

If the buttons are casuing a problem I'd be inclined to hack the action and replace them with standard inputs (or add them manually to the page and turn off the automatic buttons).

Hi Thomas,

If you can't get it to work then you may simply use the "Multi page" action instead of the "confirmation page", you can use the "Custom server side validation" or the "Event switcher" actions to check for the value passed and direct the user to the page you want (move top next page or display a previous one).

Please start experimenting with the multi page and get it to work with a simple form then re read my comments above and they will be easier to understand!🙂

btw, there is a demo multi page form posted by me here on the forums.

Best regards,
Max
