Can't Get Form To Display

goptech 29 Mar, 2012
Hi,

First of al I'm new to Joomla. But because I'm a database guy I should be able to run websites, right?

So I've installed the module (V4, RC3), component (V4 RC3.21) and plugin (V4 RC3).

I'm running on Joomla! 1.6.0 Stable [ Onward ] 10-Jan-2011 23:00 GMT

I can design the form just fine. I can hit the FrontEnd view and it displays fine and even executes the custom OnSubmit php code I created.

But when I insert the {chronocontact}FormName{/chronocontact} into the article I was the form on it just displays the {chronocontact}Donate{/chronocontact} on render.

I assume this is a problem where the plugin isn't talking (or perhaps listening) to the page rendering function when the article is being generated.

I've gone through everything I can think of. All the parts are enabled but no form.

Anyone have any ideas for the Newbie

Hi goptech,

The syntax has changed in CFv4 to {chronoforms}FormName{/chronoforms}. Please make sure that you do have the V4 plug-in installed.

That was it - thanks. The syntax seemed kind of odd but I was going off of the answer for FAQ #42 on the site.

Hi GreyHead-

I'm also having this problem. I can't seem to get my form to display. It just displays the text, {chronoforms}FormName{/chronoforms}. Initially I thought the cause was paragraph wrappers that TinyMCE was adding, but I've removed them and still nothing.

Here's a link to a test page: http://staging.susanchamberlain.org/index.php/foundation . My form is called "donate".

Could you please take a look and let me know if I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks so much-
Jordan

Hi Jordan,

That doesn't look like a standard Joomla! article. Are you trying to use the ChronoForms plug-in in something else?

Thanks, Bob-

Sorry, I didn't see you'd responded. You were right, I was putting the ChronoForm into a K2 article rather than a Joomla article. I'd already tried putting it into a normal Joomla article after reading that it didn't work with K2 in some of the other support posts. However, my real problem (as I just discovered) is that after removing every ChronoForm and re-installing the most recent version (V4) I forgot to enable the plugin in the extension manager. Whoops! Everything seems to be working now.

To clarify for future support users ...
1.) After you install ChronoForms, don't forget to ENABLE THE PLUGIN via the Extension Manager.

2.) ChronoForms will only work with standard Joomla articles and modules (not K2 items, for instance).
Out of curiosity, Bob, is there a way to have that plugin enabled by default when it's installed or is that just standard Joomla behavior? I've seen the "forgot to enable plugin" problem floating around here as well so it might help future users.

Thanks so much for the help!

Hi Jordan,

It is possible to enable plug-ins by default, I've seen some extensions do that. The default is to install them disabled and that is what Max has done so far with ChronoForms.

Great - thanks for the help! I'll look into the auto-enable apps.
