Fields won't save

scottay 16 Mar, 2012
G'day all,

I'm fighting with an issue where the fields won't save. I drop the fields I want, rename them, hit save and they all disappear. I've tried leaving them default, changing only the text, changing only the field name... nothing works.

I've used this extension before on other jobs, but this one is fighting me for some reason.

Info:
Joomla 2.5.1
Latest version of CF, downloaded yesterday.

Hi scottay,

I've seen no reported problems with the current release on Joomla! 2.5.1

After clicking the save link on the Modal window are you also clicking the Save or Save and Close icon on the toolbar? You need to do that to save the whole form including your changes.

I'm using latest Joomla 2.5.6 and latest Chronoforms 4.0

I'm seeing the same thing. I've had several times today in creating different forms when I've created a long form that the fields won't save.

I've saved all along the development. I add a couple of fields, click on "Save" at the top of the page, and all is well until I reach ?? point in length. I don't know the specific number of fields in the other form, but this one is now 35 - and when I try to create 36, no matter how I try to save, when I click on "Save" I get booted out of Chronoforms and back to the Joomla Control Panel. I look at the "frontend" to see my form to check if the last field was save...but no, it's not.

I thought all day it was my fault because I'd been creating an extensive "Custom" form and switching back and forth to the Wizard from Custom.

But the form I'm creating now is completely done through the Easy Wizard and no custom code.
I attempt that field 36 and Chronoforms keeps telling me "oh no you don't"...

I've cleared the cache, checked in everything, logged out then back in to admin, but nothing helps.

When it happened in the other form I moved the submit field to the bottom since it wasn't, and that did the trick.
I don't have a submit in this current form - yet.
I just tried to add the submit to see if that would help. I got booted out to the control panel again.

I have about 12 hours into the 2 forms, so I'm spent for the day...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

it may be some security settings on your server, it may block the processing if there is a lot of POST vars, if they are above a specific limit I mean, there is a FAQ note about a possible solution, you may also check with your host admin or check the server's error log, it may have some hints on what's happening.

Thanks, Max.

I'll look deeper. I did an "end run" for now to get things working. It's a live site so I couldn't take a lot of time to devote to investigating. I had to find a way to make the form work for the client.

I'll check the server logs and see what I can find.

Hi LTCreations,

Please see this FAQ for some more specifics on server settings that can cause this problem.
