Joomla 1.7 V4 RC3 PLUGIN bug report

normdouglas 07 Mar, 2012
Just spent 1 hour on this.

Can confirm that with Joomla core caching ON (either progressive or conservative) the form will NOT send data or even display debug data when used in an article via the plugin {chronoforms}formname{/chronoforms}

When I used the form from a direct link, the form worked as expected.

Clearly this is a bug that needs squashing.

To be totally frank with you.. I deeply wish that the old version of chronoforms was available for 1.7.

I've spent hours trying to debug this... cheers guys, hope you can find it.

Hi normdouglas ,

Sorry I've no idea about this :-( Have you tried turning the Relative URL setting off, that seems to clear some plug-in issues?

Hi normdouglas,

On the Form General tab (click the form name link in the Forms Manager to access it) there is a link to switch between the 'standard' ChronoForms URL and a Relative URL based on the URL of the loading page. By default it is set to Relative; changing that fixes some problems with forms using the plug-in. I don't know if it will fix yours but it's worth a try.

Hi,

When using the form inside an article with CACHE ON, Joomla takes an image of the article body contents and redisplay it when the page is reopened, and with Chronoforms relative URL enabled, the page is simply reloaded with different URL parameters, which Joomla doesn't care about, and this is why the form will be redisplayed without any actions (because its part in the cached content), so you must turn off the "Relative URL" setting in order to load a new non cached page.

Max
