Securing a form

I'm developping a site for a client that require a secure form cause i'll be collecting sensitive data. As I know the basics of the process but actually never applied it in any of my works I'd like to hear what other users have to say about the easyest way and the most effective way to securize a form.. If it's the place to do so of course.B)
