strange email behavior

daffy 22 Jan, 2012
Hi There,
Using joomla 1.5 and cf version 3.
(I wish all users would say what version they are using...I read an interesting submission only to find it does not apply to me).
I have made a chronoform for Name Address Phone number etc and email.
Because I have already got clients email, I hoped to prefill the email entry to save the client the bother.
I used a bit of php in the code section of the Chronoform. And it all works and looks fine in the chronoform admin page BUT, when used in the context of the Joomla running, instead of the pre-entered email it just says 'script'.
Could be 'email cloaking effect'? so I turn that off and sure enough it now shows the correct entry.
I remember something about changing the order of 'email cloaking' but no way can I get it to work.

It is not vital as the client can always be asked to enter his email again but I get cross if asked too many times because my email is long!
Any suggestions welcome.

Hi Dave,

Here's the standard reply for Email Cloaking:

You have the Joomla! Email Cloaking Plug-in enabled and it is trying to cloak the sample e-mail in the ChronoForms validation message. Disable the plug-in temporarily to check this is the problem. If you need the plug-in change the plug-ins order so that Email Cloaking runs before ChronoForms.

NB These are Joomla! plug-ins that you manage from Site Admin | Extensions | Plug-in Manager

Thanks Bob,
Tried that. To no effect.
Turn email cloaking OFF does remove the problem. But making it before or after chronocontact in order makes no difference.
But thanks for the thought. Late on a Sunday!!

Hi Dave,

That answer has been posted here more than a hundred times by now and you are the first person to say that changing the order doesn't fix it. Could be that something has changed but I'm not sure what.

Hi Bob,
Of Course as usual you are correct. I was changing the 'order' by typing new numbers into the 'order' column...that has no lasting effect. You have to push the plugins order up or down!!
I did this a year or so ago but had forgotten.
Thanks, all cured now

Hi Dave,

I think you can do it by typing in the numbers but you then have to click the tiny 'disk' icon at the top of the column to save them (as you found, they don't save with the main Save or Apply icons).
