Following tutorial results in error

Hi forum!
As a total newbie to Chronoforms, I downloaded and installed the latest version for Joomla 1.7 successfully.
I installed the component, the module and the plug-in, downloaded the tutorial for V4.
Following the tutorial, I managed to create a simple form to gather information from visitors to the page. These informations are to be sent to two e-mail-addresses on submit.
After I did everything as described in the tutorial, I clicked on "Frontend view" in order to see, how my form looks like.
Instead I looked at this line:

Fatal error: Call to a member function setState() on a non-object in /mnt/web7/52/83/51352183/htdocs/TGTJ/modules/mod_moedesigns_moescroll_2/helper.php on line 105

Besides this error, there are a few basic things that I dont understand:
- What is the module good for? In general I know, what a module is good for… 🙄
- How is this form placed in a specified location/position (like content [page], article)?
- The module shows no position for content-position. Will I need the module at all?
- The tutorial in toto lacks some information about the basics; it's a bit too "slim" imho .

I'd be very glad if someone could help me out of this!

Hi Boy,

The error message is a bug in Moescroller - it probably assumes that a Joomla! file will be loaded and breaks on a ChronoForms page when the file isn't there. Try disabling the module and the message will probably disappear.

I have never heard of the module and don't know what it does - though presumably it scrolls something.

Please check the videos at http://youtube.com/greyheadnet for an introduction to building forms.

Hi GreyHead,
thanks for the fast answer. I'll give that a try and report.

Until soon. Boy

Hi Bob,
thank you for taking care!

I've perfectly understood how to build a form, add E-Mail functionality etc.
But your video tutorials won't help, still the most important questions remain unanswered:

- What is the module good for? In general I know, what a module is good for…🙄
- How is this form placed in a specified location/position (like content [page], article, menu)?
- The module shows no position for content-position. Do I need the module at all?

These informations are nowhere to be found.

So, how can I integrate the form into an article, or how is it to be linked to some choice in a menu?
How is it to be evoked by a visitor alltogether?

Greetings, Boy

PS This seems to sound trivial maybe, but not for me, I'm afraid.
I don't find the spot where this is explained.

Hi Boy,

I'm confused about what module you are talking about. I thought it was the Moescroller module but that has nothing to do with ChronoForms.

If you want to show a ChronoForm on its own page use the link from Frontend View in the Forms Manager;

If you want to link it directly to a menu use the ChronoForms Display Form menu type

If you want to place a form in an article; then download, install and enable the ChronoForms plug-in.

If you want to place a form in a module; then download, install and enable the ChronoForms module.

The plug-in and module are available from the Downloads link above.

Hi Bob,
thanks fo a quick answer!
Now this answers my questions, also about the module and plug-in…

I hope I'll be smart enough to get through this successfully.

Best regards, Boy
