Upload File Configuration [SOLVED]

Flying_Badger 19 Dec, 2011
Hello

Can anyone tell me where I configure the file upload details. i.e. where do i put the details of the field that allows the file upload.

Silly thing is, i've already done it once and it works fine, but now i'm trying to add a second upload option on the form and for the life of me I can not find the configuration form.

I'm using 4.0 RC2.0

Many thanks

Badger

Hey Bob

Many thanks. So I "remembered" how to configure the form! but only one of the attachments is being emailed.

The debug data is below, there are 2 forms, letter and upload

Are you able to see what i have done wrong from this?

Thanks again for your help.

i am a newbie,

i have this same issue

but i dont understand:

What do you have in the Attachments box in the Email Configuration?

where do i find the Email Configuration/ Attachments box?

I am not sure if this is the same issue though, in my database results there is also no file, what is most likely the case then?

Hi bathulshof,

Which version of ChronoForms are you using? You can find the version from Site Admin | Extensions | Install/Uninstall | Components in Joomla! 1.5 or Site Admin | Extensions | Extension Manager | Manage in Joomla! 1.6.

in my database results there is also no file, what is most likely the case then?

The problem is probably that the file isn't being uploaded at all. Can you see it on you server?

Hi,

i am using 4.0 RC3.0 , just downloaded and purchased an hour ago, on joomla 1.7.3

i dont see the files in the uploads map on my server, the chmod is 755, is that a problem? i do have the FTP layer on at this moment since it is a website still in development
GreyHead 04 Jan, 2012
Hi barthulshof,

Please try turning the FTP layer off temporarily. Sometimes the FTP user has different permissions and Joomla! will try to use FTP if it is enabled.

If that doesn't fix it, please drag a DeBugger action into the On Submit event and post the results here.

I can find the uploaded file in the chromoforms folder ok but when i receive the email nothing is atached.I must have missed something basic-I've watched your video but nothing I've tried helps

I don't understand the above comments about FTP layers--is it relevant?
barthulshof 04 Jan, 2012
i also forgot to put the upload files action at the top of the submit actions
barthulshof 04 Jan, 2012
my issue is solved.

Solution:

i didnt determine the upload file field id & allowed extensions in the Upload Files settings on submit action

input_file_0:doc-docx-pdf,input_file_1:doc-docx-pdf

@ spyderwebs

when you go to the OnSubmit area and press on the Send e-mail action settings button, do you have your attachment fields filled out? "Attachments fields name"

and if you press Template in the same config area do you have your file fields in your e-mail template?
spyderwebs 05 Jan, 2012
Solved thanks-- it was finger trouble ie file-upload is not the same as file_upload!!!
spyderwebs 05 Jan, 2012
Well almost solved. Images refuse to upload to the server. Debugger says file extension not allowed yet I have put JPEG in the same place as doc-docx etc. Is there another tweak I have to do??
GreyHead 05 Jan, 2012
Hi spyderwebs,

The extensions are case-sensitive (a little but I think ) so you may need -JPG-jpg-JPEG-jpeg

The video tutorial is great, but because it left out the step of putting the allowed upload fields in the email action, I had a bit of frustration in the process. Oh well, works now!
GreyHead 27 Feb, 2012
Hi Greg,

Yes I know, my mistake. I did add a comment in the description - easier than remaking the video :-(

And I would have seen it too, if Youtube had not started hiding most of the video description in that 'Read More' panel🙂

Maybe if you made a comment on your own video, it would be obvious enough for the bleary-eyed?
GreyHead 27 Feb, 2012
Hi Greg,

Good idea, I hadn't thought of that. I've added an annotation near the end of the video.
