Dynamic From - another 'how to' question...

Hammerhead 16 Dec, 2011
Been trying to get this to work so I can just click on 'reply' and the email goes to the person submitting the form. Tried using the 'dynamic' fields, but they're not working. I then entered the field names in the Static section with no success. Tried renaming the input fields from {input_text_x} to natural language (Fname, Lname, email) but no luck there either. What am i doing wrong?

Hi Hammerhead,

I can’t tell from the info here. Please check the video:

Bob, a belated Happy Holidays to you.

This helped answer one thing, but I see why you were unclear on my question.

I'm trying to have form data sent to me (nothing goes to the customer), but when I receive the message, I want to have the email bear the name and address of the sender, rather than my domain information. This way, I can just click 'reply' and it will bear the customer's name and respond directly to the address the user input, rather than my own admin address.

So far I've been able to get the form to carry the dynamic 'reply to' email that the customer inputs, but it still bears my 'admin' moniker. I've done a workaround so that when I click 'reply' in Outlook, the address line says "Autoresponder on behalf of: <useremail@domain.com> which is close, but not quite there.

Any light you can shed on this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Hammerhead,

This is a Joomla! bug :-(

Bob, no worries. I found a workaround by using a combination of both the Static address the Dynamic From, so that when I click 'reply', it doesn't look too bad.

In the static section for 'From Name', I entered 'Web Inquiry on behalf of:', and use the dynamic email field. It's not ideal, but it works.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any plans to make CF fully 1.6/7 compatible with the ACL?

Thanks again!
