Can't get chronocontact to work

dugley 22 Feb, 2008
I'm new to Chronoforms, but I've managed to successfully publish my forms to an email address.

Then I tried to publish my form to a Joomla content page but no luck.

I've installed ChronoForms 2.3.8.1
Installed the mambot and it IS published.

This is exactly what I've placed in the content page:
{chronocontact}test{chronocontact}

My file name is test. From everything I read, I have followed the instructions and I have no clue what to try next.

Any help would be great!

Hi Doug,

Just checking but there should be a slash in the second tag {chronocontact}test{/chronocontact}

Thank you!😉 ...and yes, it was that pesky slash that I overlooked.

I was surprised at the results though...because I thought the chronoform would place the form-results in my content page and not the actual form.

Is there a way to have the form results posted to a content page?

Thanks again.

Hi dugley,

It's possible, yes, but there's no equivalent of the mambot to do it so it would take some custom code. Maybe a proxy form would do it.

What exactly do you want to do?

I have a book review area... 2 links; a submit review form page and a read reviews.

I tried a Component that claimed to do this but it would not record the reviews:S

So I made a form which a person fills out the following info:
Title:
Author:
Publisher:
Subject:
Book cover upload
Review:
(and a few other things)

Then the form results are emailed to me.

Then I created a table template on a normal content page. So now we enter the book information data we received by email onto the content page by hand. It looks REALLY nice and professional. But it's a pain to do it this way.

I was hoping that there was some kind of magical button in Chronoform I could click on that would publish the form results to a contact page.

I looked at a few forms components but it's not an easy thing to do evidently...expecialy for someone like me who can only copy and paste.

If you know of a "work around" way to do this which doesn't involve getting rocket scientist's degree, let me know;)

Thanks, Doug

The example is here:

<!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.firstcnet.com">www.firstcnet.com</a><!-- w -->
username: guestpass
password: guestpass
Main Menu Toolbar: <Lounge <Books

Hi

"publish the form results to a contact page."

I'm not sure what does this mean, but, we have a new plugin called the "profile" plugin, this one will help you show "one" database record of some database table you like to a form page after supplying the table record unique id through the URL.

So, assuming you have 500 reviews, if you create a new form called show_review , you can show any review on this form with a template you make using some URL like this :
index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=show_review&review_id=345

the url above should show the review number 345 in your database, you need to configure the plugin right though, search the forums on how to config it since I'm very late now!🙂

Good luck!

Hi Doug,

No magical button I'm afraid but fairly easy to do using Max's Profile Page PlugIn.

First create the input form in ChronoForms using some test data (the book you have there at present is good).

Then create a display form also in ChronoForms using the same field names as the input form. Then use the Profile Page PlugIn in 2.3.8 to link the two together. Basically you need to know the database table name and the two sets of field names and fill in the boxes.

The result can be publised as a Chronoforms page or you can use the mambot to publish it in a content page.

Hi,

I'm new to Chronoforms too, but I have published the Mambot and it isn't working. The form shows fine if I click the link in 'Forms Management' but it shows as {chronocontact}MyForm{/chronocontact} in the article.

I'm using 2.5 J1.5 RC1a.zip and ChronoForms Bot V 0.6.zip. I'm using Joomla 1.5.1 but with the Legacy 1.0 mode.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

What kind of page do you have the mambot in? Not all Joomla components support mambots.

Second thoughts . . . I'm not sure the mambot works in Joomla 1.5 - does anyone have that working?
