SOLVED: 404 error when linking to form

mike62 15 Feb, 2008
Hello, I get a 404 error whenever I click the menu item I created that is linked to the form. Yes, the name of the form is spelled correctly in the menu item's basic parameters. Even when I click the link in the Forms manager, it gives me a 404. I have followed the steps in the basic tutorial, and published the form.

Here is the link to the form (supposedly):
http://redboine.door62.com/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&chronoformname=memform

I am using Joomla 1.5 and Chronoforms 2.5 RC1.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, as I am on a tight schedule to get this working.<br><br>Post edited by: mike62, at: 2008/02/14 20:26

Hi mike62,

I've no idea why this should happen. What is the link that shows up for the form on the main page of the Forms Manager? Does that work OK?

No, it doesn't. The link shown above is the one from the Forms Manager. The link that is generated by the menu is http://redboine.door62.com/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&Itemid=5

Both of them give a 404. Should i try reinstalling chronoforms? Would it help if I set up a temporary username and password for my joomla site for you to have a look at it?

Thanks for the quick response!

Hm... I reinstalled the component, and now it seems to be working:

http://redboine.door62.com/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&Itemid=16

I had noticed at the bottom of the 404 page, it said "Component not found". So I just uninstalled and reinstalled, and re-built the form in the Forms Manager (uninstalling deletes all old forms). Now I'm just waiting to see if the email will get sent!

Hi Mike,

A bit of Joomla weirdness I fear - hopefully rare and transient.

Bob

PS You can keep your forms by doing Form Backups before reinstalling and Form Restores afterwards.
