HTTP 500 Internal Server Error on Submit

QuickSilver 13 Nov, 2007
In need for a little assistance..

After submiting the form, all I get is a "HTTP 500 Error - The website cannot display the page" on IE7..

I'm using Joomla 1.5 RC3 with SEF urls and Apache mod-rewrite enabled together with ChronoEngine Component 2.5_J1.5_RC1.

Has anyone been facing same problem before..?face-meh-blank

Here is the link to my form:

Thanks in advance..๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi QuickSilver,

I'm guessing that this is a Validation problem. Please turn off Form Validation and see if the form woks OK.

Turned off the form validation, but still keep getting the same error..

Couldn't be something with .htaccess ?
QuickSilver 13 Nov, 2007
Looks like there ir a problem with Anti-Spam feature.
Turned off the image verification and everything works just fine - the form is submitted successfully..

Any ideas what could cause the error in the anti spam feature..?

Hi QuickSilver,

Sorry, I meant to say Image Verification.

Next step is to edit chrono_verification.php (in the adminstrator/components/com_chronocontact folder). Find line 17
header("Content-type: image/png"รƒโ€šร‚ยซรƒโ€šร‚ยป);
and replace it temporarily with
header("Content-type: text/html"รƒโ€šร‚ยซรƒโ€šร‚ยป);
Now point your browser to that file and see what output you get - hopefully there will be some useful error messages.

There's a little more info in this FAQ

Hi, GreyHead!

Firstly, the file chrono_verification.php is placed in "components/com_chronocontact" folder instead of "adminstrator/components/com_chronocontact" folder.

Secondly, I made the changes to chrono_verification.php You mentioned above, pointed my browser to it, and there are no error messages displayed - only the verification image.

Could this be because the chrono_verification.php file is placed in wrong directory? Perhaps, I should copy it to the administrator/... folder?

Hi QuickSilver,

Something is odd - just checked my Joomla 1.0.x and 1.5 installations and chrono_verification.php is in the adminstrator folder tree in both.

I suggest that you check you have the files in the correct folders. You can see where they belong from the chronocontact.xml installation file. The first block with the <files> tag go in the components tree, the second block lower down with the <files folder="admin"> go in the administrator folder tree.

Hi, GreyHead!

Just downloaded the component for a second time and checked the chronocontact.xml file. According to the install .xml file chrono_verification.php file should be placed in components tree.

Here you can see the .xml file:

...
<installfile>install.chronocontact.php</installfile>
  <uninstallfile>uninstall.chronocontact.php</uninstallfile>
  <files>
    <filename>chronocontact.php</filename>
    <filename>chronocontact.html.php</filename>
	<filename>lang.php</filename>
	<filename>upload/index.html</filename>
	<filename>js/prototype.js</filename>
	<filename>js/effects.js</filename>
	<filename>js/validation.js</filename>
	<filename>chrono_verification.php</filename>
	<filename>default.ttf</filename>
	<filename>background.png</filename>
  </files>
...

Should I move the file to the admin tree for the image verification to work properly?
GreyHead 14 Nov, 2007
Hi QickSilver,

Sorry, Max must have relocated it in the last release. I think I am still on 2.3.4 here. I'll upgrade first thing tomorrow.

Odder and odder, I still have no idea why it's failing. A blank page is usually a sign of a PHP error that outputs some rubbish. Hard to diagnose without adding debug code to the files.

Hi Max,

Turned off both SEF urls and mod_rewrite feature, then turned on the image verification but nothing changed.

Still getting the same error..

Hi Max,

Applied the 2 hacks suggested above, and the image verification is now working - no error page is displayed on submit.๐Ÿ™‚

But unfortunately there has a new problem arised - despite the fact that you enter the correct verification code - you recieve the error alert message saying "Sorry, You have entered a wrong verification code"..๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

Tried entering the code it approx. 50 times - no success at all. The form submission is stopped on this error alert.

Ideas..?

hmmm, thats odd, can I get some admin and FTP access to your website ? this way I can see why this problem happens and may be fix it.

Cheers

Hi QuickSilver,

Are you on Joomla 1.5? In that case this could be the Global Sessions setting (I've posted twice about this today).

Hi vallabh,

This is a very old thread.

Which version of ChronoForms are you using?

Please post a link to the form so we can take a quick look.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. I am using Chrono Contact version 3.1 RC5.5
GreyHead 03 May, 2011
Hi vallabh,

The form submits OK - at least as far as processing the anti-spam imageverification - so the error is somewhere in the later processing. I see an error message "Could not instantiate main function". Do you have email working on the site?

Please take a Form Backup using the icon in the Forms Manager and post it here (as a zipped file) or PM or email it to me and I'll take a closer look.

hi,

I have sent you private message containing form backup!

thank you
GreyHead 03 May, 2011
Hi vallabh,

The backup copy submitted OK after I removed the ReDirect URL (I don't have K2 installed). Please will you try that.

Bob

Hi Bob,
Thank you very much!
But, I am still getting an Internal Server Error after removing ReDirect URL.
and one more error in between, though i write the correct Image verification code, it is displaying
"You have entered an incorrect verification code at the bottom of the form."

please help me!!!
GreyHead 04 May, 2011
Hi vallabh,

By all means email or PM me the site URL and a SuperAdmin login and I'll take a quick look.

Some time ago I did have this issue myself, too.

But there it was only a temporary error, just try it again after few hours.

Best regards
